90s child Angela Nashed brings a unique tapestry of soul, funk, blues, and R&B to her debut album "It. Started. Off. Blue." Angela's music has been shaped by her collaborators and the cities she's lived. The Kingston-born singer moved to Toronto for school, and there met vocal coach Paula Griffith with whom she developed a strong friendship and mentorship. After moving to Montreal to continue her studies, her passion for composition and singing continued to grow. The dedicated singer crossed paths with producer and engineer-about-town Vid Cousins (Kid Koala, Amon Tobin), Quebecer producer Stephane Rancourt and legendary soul singer Alan Prater who became her coach and great collaborator. These lucky encounters contributed to her development as a singer, writer, and largely self-taught producer, and their influences can be heard in her music's harmonic dance of creative instrumentation and touching vocals.
Intimate, exuberant, and soft, her sound seamlessly moves across emotional and mental states, at times moving you to dance, and at other times, moving you to tears. Whichever way she wants to take you, you'll be thankful that you went with her.
