Biography

Angela Nurse was born on the beautiful sun soaked Caribbean island of Barbados; a stark contrast to her newfound home nestled at the foot of the awesome Rocky Mountains of Calgary AB, Canada. Angela’s Grandparents raised her in Barbados until she moved to Calgary in 1991 where she began singing with her church, and eventually became Worship Leader of Sunday service. Singing became important to Angela when as a small child in Barbados she followed her Grandmother around the island watching, listening, and all the while learning the craft, as her Grandmother Goldie Nurse so masterfully wielded her song. After that all it took was her Granny holding out a wooden tambourine and Angela was hooked. She tightly gripped that tambourine until she wore it out, and although she may not play it much now, she has never let go of the inspiration that came of it. She continues to be driven by her passion for music, love for people, and her faith in God to this day. Angela’s music can be described as refreshing and energetic; her lyrics are positive yet maintain an edge with a unique style that needs to be heard to be understood. Angela has a way of blending a gospel flavour like that of one of her inspirations Mahalia Jackson, with a voice of unbridled power or of the most delicate silk, not unlike the great Ella Fitzgerald. She blends these styles together into a recipe that can be easily folded into a modern sound that appeals to the young and old alike. She can play with numerous genres of music while always remaining true to herself and her fans. She is a true professional, always entertaining, and an absolute talent that must be heard. A true master of her craft she is quick to embrace or adapt to anything new, and always excited to learn and experiment with any type of music. A mountain of talent and genuine personality to match, there is only the top for this young lady. No one should pass up the opportunity to experience the excitement, the joy, and the journey of a lifetime, with the one and only Angela Nurse.

Lyrics

Love, Love, Love

Written By: Michael Korsh, Angela Nurse

I feel alive, my heart's on fire
Tell me I'm lying and that
this love it ain't right
Please, don't wake me from this dream
It sure feels real to me
All I'm asking, all I'm asking for;

All I'm asking from you
baby is love, love, love
All I want you to do is be yourself
Where I want you to be
baby is here for me
How I want this to go is nice and slow

You're my hearts desire
It's you that drives me wild
Your smile gives me wings
and I feel I can take flight
Please don't wake me from this dream
It sure feels real to me
All I'm asking, all I asking for

I want you, I need you, I feel this,
I mean this, can't you see
I love you, none other
adore you, discover, can't you see
it's meant to be

Let it Go

Written By: Michael Korsh, Angela Nurse

Looking for a destination
Trying to find a place to go
I'm looking for a new beginning
Finding a winding road
Let it go, let it go
Let it go, let it go

My foot's to the pedal
drove until my car won't go
the needle's on empty
there's no fuel for my soul
Let it go, let it go
Let it go, let it go

Now I'm lying here broken down
on the side of the road
wind blowing past me
don't know which way to go
all my broken dreams
all my shattered lives
sitting here wasting time

I found myself walking
what seems like the longest road
but something in the distance
told me I was on my way home

I Didn't Know

Written By: Michael Korsh, Angela Nurse

I didn’t know, I’ve been asleep all of my life
It’s been a while since I’ve opened up my eyes
I’ve been afraid of what I might find
It took a dream to bring me back to life

I didn’t know, I’ve been asleep all of my life
I should have left this baggage far behind
Now I know just what I’m running from
It’s time I gave this up, I’ve had enough

Leave behind all that you’ve wasted
Leave behind all that you’ve lost
This life won’t wait we must embrace it
We’ve all been hurt but life goes on

I should have known, but I didn’t know this was my fight
And now that I know, I won’t waste my time
Finally awake, I’m gonna be alright
Taking it back, I’m taking back my life

Leave behind all that you’ve wasted
Leave behind all that you’ve lost
Pain’s a wound there is no fakin’
It’s your life face it head on

Don’t give up until it works
Live your life I know it hurts
Don’t let life pass you by
You’ve got to try
You’ve got to try

Mr. Right

Written By: Angela Nurse, Michael Korsh

I've been waiting for so long
For Mr. Right to come along
I'm so very tired of being alone
I fear, I've forgotten how to love
I fear, I've forgotten how to be loved
I'm so very tired of being alone

Oh to feel your arms around me
your lips upon my lips
my head on your heart
Oh to be your friend and lover
your reason for tomorrow

I am so afraid, don't want to be wrong
I'm afraid to lose my heart
Time to close my eyes and take a chance
Ooh this just my be romance
I fear, I've forgotten how to love
I fear, I've forgotten how to be loved
I'm so very tired of being alone

Oh to feel your arms around me
your lips upon my lips
my head on your heart
Oh to be your friend and lover
your reason for tomorrow

I've been waiting for so long
for Mr. Right
