The 22 year old has the versatility to tackle Shirley Bassey style big numbers as well as emotional ballads with ease. After eight years of training, a career as a dancer was cut short due to injury. True to form her love of performing motivated her towards other creative outlets, and she developed an interest in musical theatre, which led to vocal training.

Originally from Manchester, Angel moved to study vocal performance at the Academy of Contemporary Music aged 19, with the aim of pursuing a career as a solo artist. Amongst a rich blend of music artists, Angel got involved in all aspects of the new scene including a variety of musical projects. This is where she assembled her creative team and developed a determined work ethic inspired by like-minded people.

Madame Jojo’s in London hosted the impressive Angel Sparkes live show at the launch of her self-titled debut release in November 2010. The event featured extravagant arrangements performed by a 10-piece band, referencing big band jazz alongside hip-hop, modern synth pop and contemporary gospel.

Angel’s songs promote independence and freedom of expression, and tell stories of experiences where inspiration is always found. A trip to Las Vegas ignited the concepts and imagery for FreakShow and Glamorous, a broken heart formed a very real emotion in her performance, and a close call awakened vitality for life. Her intimate songs reveal a vulnerability that is honest yet empowering.
