Biography

Singer/Songwriter/Guitarist Angie Marie, leader of the rock-country band Angie Marie & The Outskirts, fiercely defies the stereotypes associated with being “just another girl singer” in a female fronted rock band. A recent graduate of Berklee College of Music, Angie’s skills at arranging, songwriting, and performing, provide her music with a detailed sense of craft and depth of expression, equally informed by her having grown up listening to – and performing - everything from musical theater to the blues and country. The Pittsburgh, PA native also plays with Long Island-based roots rock band, The Origginators.

Good Friends & Goodbyes

Written By: Angie Marie Zammit

gettin' by on good friends and goodbyes
lookin' vertically towards the skies
holdin' on to somethin' greater
there is no one that we can blame here, no

it was a breakup with love
i felt your heart with every touch
and now you feel that you misunderstand me
i just had to stand up for what i believe

we just need a little time
to feel the pain and cry the cries
and at the risk of soundin' trite
to just be friends would be just right

i cannot lie & say i won't miss you
after all is done and through
i can't explain this relief i feel
as if we've righted a wrong

we just need a little time
to feel the pain and cry the cries
and at the risk of soundin' trite
to just be friends would be just right

gettin' by on good friends and goodbyes, ah huh

Back on the Market

Written By: Angie Marie Zammit

Tired of bein' lady-like
Sick of bein' so polite
Hittin' my rebounds
Forgettin' all your frowns

Dried up all of my tears
Put my car into gear
Goin' out tonight
Baby, it's do or die

Back on the market, baby
Don't you know I'm shoppin' around
Back on the market, baby
Gonna do some tryin' on

I got on my makeup
Honey, I'm all dressed up
None of it's for you
Doin' what I wanna do

Winks, free drinks and dancin'
Maybe some romancin'
Since it's me you're over
Baby, I'm done with you

Back on the market, baby
Don't you know I'm shoppin' around
Back on the market, baby
Gonna do some tryin' on

I ain't makin' compromises
I'm gettin' all the prizes
Havin' all the fun
Gettin' some forgettin' done

Back on the market, baby
Don't you know I'm shoppin' around
Back on the market, baby
Gonna do some tryin' on
Gonna do some tryin' on
Gonna do some tryin' on

Never Too Late

Written By: Angie Marie Zammit

Slipper socks & a pair of jammies
Are all I feel like wearin'
And, of course, the apartment's a mess
Gotta cook & clean & still pay the rent

Workin' 9-5
Barely survivin' the daily grind
Comin' home late every night
Feelin'--under-appreciated

CHORUS:
Don't let life get in the way
Beware of the day-to-day
Don't let your dreams go unattained
You know it's never too late
Never too late

T.G.I.F. now ain't that the truth
Still not enough time to recoup, Uhah
Now the weekends go so fast
Need a stiff drink in a tall glass

I think it's time to make a change
Say what I gotta say, hey
Gotta try, gotta fight the fight
Passion & prayers will make it right

CHORUS:
Don't let life get in the way
Beware of the day-to-day
Don't let your dreams go unattained
You know it's never too --

BRIDGE:
Take a class, learn to dance
Take a trip, go for a dip
Get a job, write a song
Sign up for Match.com....
Hey...it's okay to look!

CHORUS:
Don't let life get in the way
Beware of the day-to-day
Don't let your dreams go unattained
You know it's never too late
Never too late

Esther

Written By: Angie Marie Zammit

She was young & pretty, a secretary
Smart & on the rise
He a young pilot, learned to fly back in high school
Had his passion & his pride

He came alive that day at the old dance hall
When he saw her face, and their eyes met
He came alive that day when he found his Esther, his love

Not too long after they engaged & married
Moved to Utah for a job
Had three kids & laughter, but much too soon after
They knew they'd have a hard road

Time stood still that day when they learned her plight
They cried, they prayed...cancer she'd fight
Time stood still that day when he feared for his Esther, his love

They did all they could; it just wasn't enough
He blamed doctors; he blamed God
Three kids with no mother, and he with no lover
Didn't know how to move on

He died that day
Back in '64
When her soul rose to meet our Lord
He died that day when he lost his Esther, his love

Some 40 years later, now in his 80s
Was her he'd ask to see

He lived again that day...
When he saw her face...
Near the pearly gates...
When he found his Esther, his love

Lasso

Written By: Angie Marie Zammit

Cowboy on the ranch, riding
Watch you from the fields, hiding

Tame this
wild horse I've
been captured
'gainst my will

Lasso, lasso

A stiff rope you prepare and practice
Mesmerized I stare, heart beats faster
Wind up & release, toiling
Finally I give in, catch me

Tame this
wild horse I've
been captured
'gainst my will

Lasso, lasso

Home on the range
Home on the range

Lasso, lasso

Whisper in my ear sweet nothings
Broken in, I hear; I'm smiling

Tame this
wild horse I've
been captured
by your spell

Lasso, lasso
