ANGUS COX

Began play drums in bands at 14 years. Switched to guitar in his 20s and started writing songs when he read a Beatles songbook and discovered he could put together a few chords and write lyrics too. Added harmonica later to fill in space, add layers, and for solos. Played many an open mic, bar, and party in Florida and New York. Angus' songs will remind you of driving around in your '72 Gran Torino with your best girl listening to a great FM radio station with a nice buzz. Influences include Elvis Costello, Jonathan Richman, Paul Weller, Tom Verlaine, Neil Young, Rupert Holmes, Mike Scott, and many other singer/songwriters from their solo careers. Also influenced by 70s FM radio, 80s new wave, and 90s and beyond pop, rock, and R & B. Angus loves to write catchy, singable hits with lyrics that are fun to decipher and discover the in joke, artistry, or homage from which they sprung. Angus writes in many genres from pure pop to dirt rock to country to soul and everything in between. Don't try to put him in any category. He won't fit. Variety is the spice of life, they say. So put some Angus on the grill and on the CD player and have a good time.
