"Fucking weird album."

This is a fucking weird album. Somewhere between Eyedea & Abilities and G. Love and Special Sauce, this B.C. duo decided that the daily operations of Homo sapiens in their natural habitat is a strong enough concept for a record that follows these particular specimens from waking dream to bacon and eggs, through work, more work, play, every manner of human contact, the importance of flossing, and back to rest and reverie. They are correct. Musically and thematically, hip hop conventions take a back seat to hallucinatory headphone cinema. 7.5/10 - Montreal Mirror

"5 Stars"

These darn Canadian indie hip hoppin' rappers with their sweet-spot beats and their free-flowing rhymes. They're really startin' to make us U-S-of-A-er's look sloppy. Sending the sounds down south via Whistler, BC, this duo throws the true school fastball and mixes it up with a flurry of lyrically dense curves and off-the-wall knuckleballs. After setting the stage with the deeply grooved "Soul Station," they jump right in, taking "Party Animals" and sticking to the title waaay more literally than you would think possible. While that song is certainly one of the aforementioned knucklers, tracks like "Her Dangerous Smile" and "The Me in Me" play it a little closer to the vest, opening up about real-life issues but never wallowing in a pool of self-obsession. The beauty of this record lies not far beneath that approach: it's just a couple of dudes making some songs that they would want to listen to. This not only accounts for their attention to detail, but their overall excellence in execution. Well played. - CDBaby.com

Bio

Since being nominated for a Western Canadian Music Award for Best Hip-Hop Album last year, and playing sold out festivals across the country (Vancouver Island music Festival, NXNE [film fest], Telus Ski and Snowboard Festival, Crankworx), and shooting a MUCH Music funded music
video (The Lasagna Song - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPVks1Jq6C8), the band has returned to the studio with Saskatoonian band "Sly Business" to create their latest recording "Don't Grow Up To Be Like Us". (Urbnet)
With song titles like "Small Town Stripper", "Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk", "Too Sober to Get to Know Her, But Too Drunk to F**k" and "The Get High Beach" you know you're going to be in for a great listen.

"Animal Nation should be prescribed by physicians as an oratory cure-all for many of the ailments which plague the human condition, including, but not limited to, depression, heartache, ennui and the blahs. I defy anyone to listen and not feel happy."
