Bio

Straight from the Musical Mecca of the Midwest, Chicago, Animate Objects carries the spirit and soul of the new generation of Hip-Hop music. Embracing the past, present, and future of Hip-Hop by integrating EMCEES, DJ’s, and live instrumentation, Animate Objects clearly defines itself as a leader in the revolutionary growth of the vibrant and rapidly emerging live Hip-Hop scene in Chicago. Led by EMCEE CZAR Absolute, the band creates an interactive experience that has captured audiences from large assembly halls to tiny neighborhood cafés. Whether with melodious harmonies on the keys, kinetic guitar riffs, or sophisticated cross rhythms on the drums, the band has intoxicated crowds with a musical sound buffet as diverse as its cultural background. Priding itself on a healthy knowledge base and its professionalism, the band has won the respect of its peers while performing at some of Chicago’s most historic and legendary venues such as the “Elbo Room,” “The Beat Kitchen,” and “Subterranean”. Defining itself by staying true to the origins of Hip-Hop while daringly forging the future of a musical generation, Animate Objects is sure to place you in the fast lane.

Formed in September of 2003, Animate Objects is an amalgam of Chicago’s finest Hip-Hop players. Two weeks after forming, the Objects stunned the competition, and won the Triangle Battle of the Bands competition, sending them on their way to the top of the local music scene in Champaign-Urbana, IL.

The band has received critical praise from independent music aficionados and novice listeners alike while opening for national acts including Soul Position, The Opus, and Illogic/DJ Przm. In their earliest period, as a further contribution to the central Illinois music scene, the Animate Objects served as champion contributors helping lay the cornerstone for the foundation of the first student run record label in the Big Ten, Green Street Records at the University of Illinois. By serving as a dynamic force they helped usher the record label to acclaim as its historic story was brought to the eyes of the nation in Billboard magazine. More recently, the band garnered the grassroots support necessary to win the award for "Best Hip Hop Band" at the 1st annual WPGU-Buzz Champaign-Urbana Local Music Awards, in April 2005.

Currently, the band is writing, self producing, and promoting their forthcoming debut album, Riding in Fast Cars With Your Momma, relentlessly playing out in support of the pending release. With the anticipation mounting and expectations growing, this band is certainly on the rise, with bigger things expected in 2005 and beyond.
