Still working on that hot first release.

Anna Ash of Oakland has been making music in the Bay Area for the last two and a half years, but her latest release, These Holy Days, shows she has the potential for a much larger audience.

Throughout These Holy Days, Ash’s soprano voice is the star of the show, and it should be. Her effortless delivery evokes elements of soul, folk, pop, and just a hint of twang. Ash brings a bit of a throwback feel to the album, but never sounds antiquated or stale. Her band is tight, and the arrangements are able to remain interesting without stealing the spotlight from Ash’s rich voice. In short, These Holy Days makes it clear that Anna Ash is a special talent with the foundation for widespread appeal.

The music of Anna Ash is like hanging out in a dark dive bar that only serves cotton candy" (SF Gate). There is something haunting and angelic about her voice, but something heartbreaking and dark about her songs. She drinks whiskey on stage and belts old fashioned soul sounding tunes about babes and bicycle crashes. She's not old-timey, but she's nowhere near pop. Her voice will remind you of something your grandma once played, but a little more crass, and a little less careful.
