Anna Liese are a four-piece alternative Rock, Irish band based in Waterford. Mark Walsh (Vocals, Guitars) Emmet Conefery (guitarist), Sean Carey (Bass) and Eddy Blake (Drums) have just released their début EP ‘Chasing and Fading’.These guys give us a variety with their slow tempos, melodic guitar passages, beautiful vocal harmonies in ” Storm” which has a smooth airy drive time vibe, compared with the fast tempo and heavy riffs in ” Psycho Mask” and “Break The Chain”.
” Psycho Mask” is an upbeat funky tune with some distortion which adds a hint of psychedelic rock as they lead into a instrumental break. “Break The Chain” is a rock and roll style track and my favourite of the three with it slick guitar and punchy drums its an animated track that’s bound to sound good live and get everyone up dancing. This particular tunes heavy riff and use of guitar licks is very effective.
‘Chasing and Fading’ is a strong début EP that shows promise and with a number of gigs under their belts and preparations for their EP launch gigs which will be taking place over the next few months we can look forward to some high energy shows.

Anna Liese have released the final two tracks from their début EP ‘Chasing and Fading’.’Chasing and Fading’ the title track is a riff base rock track heavier than the other songs we have heard so far.With an intense Radiohead vibe. The vocals have a mysterious tone to them which really adds to the atmosphere of this track. There is a call and response between the guitar and the vocals which is really effective. The song builds to a heavy end with a strong final note.
‘Green’ is my favourite track on the EP it again starts slow with melancholy vocals and then kicks straight into a rock song with full sound and a proper mosh pit tune, with slick guitars and pounding drums and even a scream in vocals. The vigorous guitars are amazing and really show the skill of theses guys. This is a zealous, blazing track and I can imagine it is magnificent live.

Anna-Liese are a four-piece Waterford-based band made up of 2 Kilkenny men, a Wexford man, and indeed, a Waterford man.
Mark Walsh (Vocals, Guitars), a singer/songwriter hailing from Wexford, originally approached the other guys, whom are all part of the Music Degree course at the Waterford Institute of Technology, to support him on one or two of his own songs, having all performed together at some point. This support coming in the form of an additional guitar, bass and drums - Enter: Emmet Conefery, a singer/songwriter/guitarist, Sean Carey [Bass] and Eddy Blake [Drums]. Sean & Eddy were developing a reputation as the two 'go-to' guys in the area of rhythm at this point, having performed on several performances and recordings in various genres.
The guys recorded some rough versions of what turned out to be some of Anna-Liese's first set of songs. The recordings went pretty well which inspired the four aspiring musicians to continue writing together.
It is difficult to generalise Anna-Liese. Its music encompasses slow tempos, melodic guitar passages, beautiful vocal harmonies, fast tempos, heavy riffs (often reminiscent of punk and grunge) and there is definitely some Indie-Rock in there for good measure. Each musician brings their own style to the table and each musicians’ personal taste is evident. This coupled with their musical education really distinguishes Anna-Liese from any other local act. Regardless of how you label Anna-Liese, you can be sure there is something for everybody in its repertoire.
Sean and Emmet hold Bachelor (Hons) Degrees in Music; Sean an accomplished Jazz performer, and Emmet; a gifted Classical guitarist. The talented Mark and Eddy now enter their fourth and final year of the aforementioned course and strive to attain their Bachelor (Hons) Degrees too.
Forward a year later – The 4-piece have acquired some much deserved street-credibility with a number of gigs under their belts, predominantly in Waterford & Kilkenny. In fact, the band are just completing its first EP "Chasing and Fading" and are currently preparing for the EP launch gigs, which will be taking place over april and May 2016. Anna-Liese is growing from strength-to-strength, building a reputable following and continue to establish themselves as an energetic force in the local [original] music scene.
