Anna Goldsmith

 Douglas, Isle of Man, IMN
BandPopSinger/Songwriter

An experienced classically trained artist who started to perform my own songs around five years ago. My songs are predominantly Folk Rock based with a touch of Soul,Jazz and Trip Hop taking inspiration from artists from Sarah Mclachlan to Massive Attack to Stevie Wonder.

Biography

Classically trained from a very early age, Anna made her first stage performance when she was just 5 years old. She has the superb control and vocal quality that you would expect after years of continuous vocal coaching and has enjoyed success in many classical competitions.

But in recent years, everything has changed for Anna: she has shifted from a background of entertaining Royalty with opera style precision, to using all of that talent - and more - to bring her own, very contemporary songs to an eager audience.

Since she started gigging her own material, she's been reaching out to a rapidly growing fanbase with a live performance that comes straight from the heart.

Touching on influences ranging from classical artists like Sumi Jo, to contemporary musicians Sarah McLachlan, Massive Attack and Zero 7, she puts her hard earned keyboard skills to use and blends a stunning vocal range with a sensitivity and warmth that grabs the coldest heart.

Her talent was rewarded with the prestigious Air Malta Award at the 2006 Malta International Song Festival and by her gaining the support slot for Triskel Promotions' sold out Katie Melua gig

She worked with Dave Armstrong (producer credits include "Roll Away" Back Door Slam) and Rob Cross (co-writer), on a debut album that is something very different from the latest batch of Girls With Guitars - it's a record packed with immediate but lingering songs, brought to life by a skill for creative lyricism and subtle references to her stunning operatic abilities.

Anna is now also gigging the new material with a full band, which adds a depth and variety to her sound and gives her the opportunity to really soar in live performance.

At the end of 2008 she opened for Bee Gee Robin Gibb in concert as well as getting the opportunity to record a cover of ""Night Fever" for a special BeeGees Anniversary DVD.

Anna continues to gig regularly and has recently completed recording the theme song "Here Tomorrow" for upcoming film "Love Like Hers" by UK Indie film maker Danny Lacey

Metaphor

Written By: Rob Cross

Give me a metaphor
For all you feel.
The key to open a door
The way to make things real.

But I can see into you
Through cracks in glass
There's nothing that I can do
To try and make this last

If I ever let go of you
See you flickering out of light
Lose myself in the memory
You were burning bright

And I won't be cynical
Or self assured.
Spent time and energy on
Words I can't afford

To see you fall into you
Breaks my heart
A fracture too deep to heal
Tears your soul apart

If i ever let go of you
See you flickering out of light
Lose myself in the memory
You were burning bright

Lets go back
To a place with a colourful glow
Out of black
Into what we were

If I ever let go of you
See you flickering out of light
Lose myself in he memory
You were burning bright

Let it Rain

Written By: Anna Goldsmith

Seeing so clearly,
Jumping with both feet.
Where did the time go from here?

Taking it easy,
Unlock my meaning.
Leave all the love in my tears.
All the love in my tears.

And let it rain, oh let it rain on me now.

Fallen so quickly,
Say all the right things.
Leave all the love in my tears.
All the love in my tears.

And let it rain, let it rain on me now.

Falling, I'm fallen
Too good to be true.
Open my heart to the sound of you.

Let it rain, oh let it rain on me now.
And let it rain, let it rain on me now.

Horoscope

Written By: Anna Goldsmith

You will find it hard to say exactly what is on your mind,
As you battle to complete all that you promised.
Without a second thought for all th heartache you might find,
As you try to give your life a little hope.

But it's alright
There's nothing you can do
You're only human and thats ok
But its alright there's nothing you can say
When it seems like nothing's ever gonna go your way..

You are wary of the outcome of doing things against your will
Especially if sometimes they excite you
Take yourself from all of this when you have had your fill
And admit that you havent got the answers

But its alright
There's nothing you can do
You;re only human and thats ok
But its alright
There's nothing you can say
When it seems like nothing's ever
Gonna go your way

Feeling tired and sorry for yourself
You're scared to overstep the mark.
Stick to your guns and dont be dragged in by the gossip.
Don't be afraid of the dark...

But its alright
There's nothing you can do
You're only human and thats ok
But its alright
There's nothing you can say
When it seems like nothing's ever
Gonna go your way...

Everything will be alright if you have the answers.

Everything will be alright if you find the answers.

Don't Wait Up

Written By: Anna Goldsmith

Don't Wait Up
I will be home tonight
Won't wake you up
Knowing I will be alright.

Take the good times back
Keep them in your memory.
I am here for now,
But don't wait up for me.

Don't wait up
Think of the dreams you have made
Won't hold up
The plans you could have lost if I had stayed.

Put your heart on hold
Locked without the key.
I am here for now
But don't wait up for me.

Don't wait up
The night could be so long.
Don't stay up
Thinking bout where you belong.

Find a place somewhere
A place where you can be free
I am here for now
But don't wait up for me.
