A Dutch girl from Paris, Anna Moot's comes from playing the big city with a number of bands, one dedicated to Prince and his thousands of versions of his thousands of songs, and the other playing little jazz clubs and supporting the "crème" of French pop artists (TéTé, La Grande Sophie, Arman Méliès...) with her original material.
Now bunked down in Melbourne, Anna created the 7-piece band, Anna Moots & the Manna Oots. Heavy and spacious beats, powerful horns, funky keys and sexy guitar, this group creates an irresistible result of sweet voices and raw rhythm (Zap Mama comes to mind). The Dutch/French songstress mixes her favorite sounds of soul, funk, african influenced beats and harmonies into a tasty sonic delight.
What if was a finalist in the 2009 Independent Music Awards and saw the release of its illuminating music clip.
The debut album, Shaken&Taken is out now.
