Anna Mwalagho, was born and raised in Kenya and began performing when she was 8 years old. She is now a real renaissance woman - in addition to writing and performing poetry, she is also an internationally recognized award-winning Actor, Storyteller, Dancer, Singer/Song Writer, Radio Broadcaster, and a Director. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences (Economics) at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa, and since her arrival in the USA, from her original country Kenya; she has performed for schools, co-operations, civic groups, organizations, festivals and colleges.

Anna believes that the children are the leaders of tomorrow thus she uses the African folklore including African songs, dances and African history, to positively entertain, impact and empower the children to believe in themselves, and work hard in school to build a better tomorrow. Her theatrical spoken word poetry inspires, evokes thought and entertains as well as educates both the young and the old. She culminates her performances with a one woman show that electrifies, captivates, inspires and energizes the crowds as she blends her beautiful voice in song, dance, acting, poetry and storytelling to tell her story of life.

Anna has performed at the World Bank. Embassy of Kenya, Embassy of France, Embassy of Liberia, at the First Night Annapolis 2006, Baltimore Immigration Summit, African American Festival in Alexandria, Empowered Woman International, United Nation Association, Congressional Black Caucus Annual Conference 2005, Global Women of Baltimore, American Association of University Women and African Women Cancer Awareness Conference, among other distinguished organizations. She has also been featured on WHUR 96.3, WPFW 89.3, Voice of America a worldwide radio station, The International television Channel-MHZ, Fairfax county cable television, and Lifestyles television show, which airs on Comcast in southern Maryland and Pax. Anna’s Philosophy is “dance, sing, share and laugh this is the joy of life.”

1.Songs and Tales from Africa folklore and other cultures: Stories with a moral behind it, captivating and entertaining accompanied by songs, dance and drumming, chants and rhythms to entertain as well as educate the children about the Continent of Africa.
2.Poetry and African Dance Workshops: Geared towards teenage students or high School students, to promote social skills, leadership skills, enhance self-esteem, and develop creative expressions that will motivate and inspire them
3.One Woman Show - “Where Is The Love”: This is a glimpse of my life representing many immigrants in the battle to belong, and the long hard journey they have traveled to feel and be accepted, for who they are and not where they come from, at the same time realizing that the grass is not greener thus appreciating the essence of identity and ones culture.
