Anna P. Brown

Anna P. Brown began singing at age 2 and writing at age 8 in her hometown of Alexandria, Va. Was introduced to the eclectic world of music by her mother, who had her listening heavily to funk, soul, and jazz greats like Prince, Sade, Michael Franks, Teena Marie, Bobby Womack, Phyllis Hyman, Luther Vandross, and many others. Was always shy about her vocal gift during her youth, so rarely shared it with others, but wrote over a hundred songs that she eventually shared during her undergrad years. With the advice of her peers, she began recording and attending open mic and karaoke nights to strengthen her performance. In 2008, moved to NYC area to pursue music and acting full-time. In September 2008, Anna P. Brown received honorable mention for her song "Platonic" for Song of the Year songwriting contest, and in 2010, she wrote songs and sang for the independent film "Sunset", where she was also carried the leading role. She is currently working on her first EP, scheduled to be released in 2012.
