Ann August is a band out of Atlanta, Georgia. The band has been together as a whole for over two years but seperately the band has been together for almost a decade.
From the crazy punk rock riffs to the melodic jams and spontaneous changes, Ann August has set out to make their first full length release an original sounding album that combines all of their influences and keeps the listener guessing. “Of Fear and Fate” --- the title of their first ep and latest recording, is inspired by the ever changing world we live in. From darker songs such as “Like Shadows”, touching on thoughts of the dark world of addiction. “. . like shadows this swallows, your soul and the beauty of the world.” The album also carries a cleaner more melodic songs like “Orange”. Which is a song questioning the everyday choices we make “as we float through space”.

“When we set out to write a song, we try to stick with the sound that is in all of our heads, rather than following the techniques that steal the airwaves for that year.” says John Jones , “All and all I believe the album has songs on it that will stand the test of time ---- rather than in ten years sound like a song written in 2006 when songs sounded like that.”

“One thing I enjoy --- is that the entire band wrote this album” Schival says, “Everyone plays guitar and several other instruments. So it is nice to hear a finished product that has a squeeze of everyone on it.”

Ann August has been together as a band since 1998 when John and Sam started playing punk music in their garage. Over the course of eight years the band has had quite a mix of recordings --- from their first 3 song “Fresh Starts” demo in 1999 to their “Away with the Estrogen” LP in 2002, that sent them on a year of touring the southeast. Playing shows with bands like Rufio, Yellowcard, Lagwagon, and Agent 51. In the years leading up to 2006 the band recorded the “Good-bye Brown Eyes” LP and then went through a major line up change. Felipe and Adam joined up in 2003 followed by Joey in 2004. Ann August then spent an entire two years tweeking their craft until “Of Fear and Fate” was made.

“I look back at the past years and think --- fuck it’s been a long time. But then I look at the progress that us as musicians have made and how serious we take our music now and I think wow, what a beautiful thing.”
