Biography

"Annelise is, in my opinion, one of the most refreshing and enchanting singer/songwriters I've ever heard. I highly recommend Annelise LeCheminant to sing and play for any occasion. -Sue L. Padgette, Exectutive Director United Way of Wilkes Co., Inc.

"Certainly Annelise's participation at the Boy Scouts of America Extravaganza was a huge contribution to the '06 event. We've traditionally had the National Anthem but she took that portion of our program to another level. I know our participants enjoyed her singing and playing in the pre-function area prior to the "official start" as well. -Don McKinney, Boy Scouts of America Middle Tennessee Council Development Director.

Since beginning her music career, Annelise Since beginning her music career, Annelise LeCheminant has been described as "enchanting", "refreshing" & "engaging" as she captivates audiences with her soulful, venturesome sound. This singer/songwriter/guitarist is a musician audiences simply cant ignore. She skillfully applies creativity and artistry to her music, developing a sound that is reminiscent of a well stamped passport, having visited many genres and bringing them home. Its a cohesive blend of alternative groove-rock, gypsy jazz & soul with a little flavor from the salt shaker of a European cafe.

Arriving somewhat late to the music industry, LeCheminant wasted no time in acquiring the skills necessary to make her mark in the world. In 1999 she began teaching herself to play the guitar. One year later, she took a 1,600 mile leap of faith to Nashville to refine her vocal talents with coach Brett Manning and within a few months she was playing open mics & writers rounds. For the next few years Annelise played two or three nights a week in Nashville to fine-tune her performing skills while penning new songs. In the fall of 2003 she began recording her debut album "You Never Know" with producer Matt Wilder, on a self owned label, MoxyShop Records. While in the studio she played acoustic guitar on most of her songs, an accomplishment all on its own. LeCheminant released the 16 track record in August of 2004, with several "A list" Nashville players adding their talents to the project. She then began sharing the stage with them, holding her own as a guitarist and singer.

LeCheminant has performed in countless venues and events throughout the country, including opening for a Lee Greenwood 4th of July Celebration at the four diamond Mountain View Grand Resort & Spa in 2006. She performed for an international crowd at the 2002 Winter Olympics Downtown Festival in Salt Lake City and was the feature artist at the Wilkes Co. United Way Benefit Concert in North Carolina in 2005. Along with producer Matt Wilder, LeCheminant created, hosted and performed in a monthly showcase called "The Wilder Side of Nashville", dedicated to helping non-country independent artists and bands in Nashville. When she is not touring professionally Annelise is involved in various musical projects for her church and community.

In 2004 she was voted "'Best of Davis County' Gifts for Music Connoisseurs" in her home town after the release of "You Never Know". In Sept of 2006 LeCheminant's song "Disconnected" was made a part of a permanent installation at the Discovery Gateway Children's Museum in Salt Lake City Utah, where children can interact with the song by mixing and recording. She also released her premier Christmas Album in Dec. 2006 while recording her second full length album of original songs.

Along with writing and recording original material, LeCheminant has sung lead and background vocals for various bands & artists and is an accomplished studio vocalist. Critics praise her vocals on Colette Calls award winning release "Power In His Touch" (www.colettecall.com). She was also invited to sing background vocals on Rebekah Laws debut album Home at Last (www.rebekahlaw.com).

LeCheminant has shown that there is still new music to be made. Listeners rave at the depth and creativity of her lyrics which is topped only by the incredible talent in her voice. Artists and musicians who have worked with LeCheminant describe her vocal and writing abilities with the highest of praise. "People stop their conversations to listen to her," says vocal coach and songwriter Brett Manning. He adds, "She captures the attention of her audience with her voice, style & stage presence. Her lyrics and melodies are creative and artistic." Nationally recognized professional studio drummer, Steve Brewster, says "Annelise, you need to keep doing what youre doing, because this is what music needs". Fans describe her voice as soothing and easy to listen to as she takes a sincere approach to her performances, kicking off her shoes and connecting with her audiences.

When LeCheminant is not playing music she enjoys spending time with her most prized possession; her family, renovating & remodeling homes, water skiing, traveling, photography, pain

Lyrics

City

Written By: Annelise LeCheminant

One day I took a plane to the city, Oh
The sparkle and the shine made me feel so fine
And I didn’t even mind the cold
In my jeans and my leather I floated like a feather
On cloud nine or ten or whatever makes you happy
And I laid there getting high off pollution in the sky
And the guy getting high next door
And I laid there getting high off pollution in the sky
And the guy getting high next door
Five dollar tulips and drinking only two sips
And the waitress takes my plate before I started
“Hey I didn't get my fill”
None the less she brought the bill
And I left there with a gnawing in my stomach
So to the park I took a walk and I started to talk
To the birds in the trees and the smog in the breeze
And I got down on my knees and I said please!
And I laid there getting high off pollution in the sky
And the guy getting high next door
And I laid there getting high off pollution in the sky
And the guy getting high next door
So I hailed myself a taxi and I climbed into the back seat
And I went home feeling ill from pollution and the chill
And I stared at the walls oh, the tomb wherein falls
The realization that everything was changing
And I laid there getting high off pollution in the sky
And the guy getting high next door
And I laid there getting high off pollution in the sky
And the guy getting high next door
And the guy getting high
The guy getting high
The guy getting high next door

High Road

Written By: Annelise LeCheminant

I’ve seen good and I’ve seen bad
I sometimes want what I can’t have
I’ve heard the truth and I’ve heard lies
I could sing you lullabies
But I’d like to take the high road
The one less traveled on
Hold on to the rhythm
Til the music’s long gone
Let me hear ya say
Ba ba-do-do do do-do do do do do-do-do-do
Ba ba-do-do do do-do do do do do-do-do-do
There’s a lot I've seen and a lot I’ve heard
Do people get what they deserve?
Some are lucky some are blessed
I’ll take both I do confess
If I take the high road less traveled on
I’ll be singing my little song
Ba ba-do-do do do-do do do do do-do-do-do
Ba ba-do-do do do-do do do do do-do-do-do
I’ve seen good and I’ve seen bad
I sometimes want what I can’t have
I’ve heard the truth and I’ve heard lies
I could sing you lullabies
I could sing you lullabies
But I’d like to take the high road
The one less traveled on
Hold on to the rhythm
Til the music’s long gone
Let me hear ya say
Ba ba-do-do do do-do do do do do-do-do-do
Ba ba-do-do do do-do do do do do-do-do-do

Disconnected

Written By: Annelise LeCheminant & Colette Call

I’ve been feeling a little disconnected
I don’t know how much I’ve been affected
Don’t know anyone who likes to be rejected
So all I ask is I not be disrespected

Anybody with a mouth and a thought thinks they’ve gotta say what's on their mind
Some things are better left unsaid be surprised and the trouble left behind
Im only human can’t you see you’re asking me to be what I can’t be
Do I find another who will love me better won’t throw my heart out and be unkind

You keep saying the truth will make us stronger
Brutal honesty will make our love last longer
Don’t see how tearing me down brings anything but anger
Now that you’ve got me you’re acting like a stranger

Anybody with a mouth and a thought thinks they’ve gotta say what's on their mind
Some things are better left unsaid be surprised and the trouble left behind
Im only human can’t you see you’re asking me to be what I can’t be
Do I find another who will love me better won’t throw my heart out and be unkind

I can’t live up to your unspoken expectations
Reading minds is not my ordination
Can’t you see that I’ve got my limitations
I’m just looking for some reconciliation

Anybody with a mouth and a thought thinks they’ve gotta say what's on their mind
Some things are better left unsaid be surprised and the trouble left behind
Im only human can’t you see you’re asking me to be what I can’t be
Do I find another who will love me better won’t throw my heart out and be unkind

Fall

Written By: Annelise LeCheminant

I want to lay it on the table
Spill it all but I’m unable
To tell you how I feel

I’m paralyzed from the mouth inward
Shaking from the heart outward
Feeling like I’d rather not
But I’m willing to risk it all

But I don’t want to want you
I don’t want to want you
Cuz I don’t want to fall
But I don’t want to want you
I don’t want to want you
Cuz I don’t want to fall
If you don’t fall for me too

Have I made an impression?
Should I make my confession?
Could you see me as your beautiful one?

Do you have to be so charming?
Really you should come with a warning
And save a lot of broken hearts
I know right where you can start

Cuz I don’t want to want you
I don’t want to want you
Cuz I don’t want to fall
But I don’t want to want you
I don’t want to want you
Cuz I don’t want to fall
If you don’t fall for me too

I don’t want to want you
I don’t want to want you
Cuz I don’t want to fall
But I don’t want to want you
I don’t want to want you
Cuz I don’t want to fall
If you don’t fall for me too

Driven

Written By: Annelise LeCheminant

Can I shut down for a moment?
While I save myself
Just shut down for a moment
And save myself from myself
And breathe, hear the leaves
And believe that it all will be worth it

Is it a curse or a blessing to be a slave to this obsessing I’m
Driven to the ground by the fuel that feeds the fire
I keep my spirit guessing & with my sanity I’m messing
But I’m driven by the sound of the fire that molds the iron

Does it matter in the long run
If I run full speed ahead
Does it really matter in the long run
If I choose a simpler life instead
And breathe, hear the leaves
And believe that it all will be worth it

Is it a curse or a blessing to be a slave to this obsessing I’m
Driven to the ground by the fuel that feeds the fire
I keep my spirit guessing & with my sanity I’m messing
But I’m driven by the sound of the fire that molds the iron

Is it a curse or a blessing to be a slave to this obsessing I’m
Driven to the ground by the fuel that feeds the fire
I keep my spirit guessing & with my sanity I’m messing
But I’m driven by the sound of the fire that molds the iron

Can I shut down for a moment?
I can’t save myself
Just shut down for a moment
I can’t save myself

Crow Dance

Crow Dance
by Annelise LeCheminant

I thought time was standing still
When I stopped and stood by the window sill
And watched the crows dance in the yard
And they didn’t leave footprints and it didn’t look hard

And they danced all day as the sun spun
They danced and danced for no one
All day and into the night
And all the while they wore a smile

I saw my reflection in the glass
And I saw my feet in the green green grass
I tapped the rhythm out on the pane
That held me back so I tapped in vain

And they danced all day as the sun spun
They danced and danced for no one
All day and into the night
And all the while they wore a smile

I turned and felt along the wall for the door
Cuz I didn’t want to tap in vain no more
I joined the crow dance in the yard
I didn’t leave footprints and it wasn’t hard

And I danced all day as the sun spun
I danced and danced for no one
All day and into the night
And all the while I wore a smile

Now that’s how this story goes
It’s little things that hold you back
Oh just look and find your door
And go outside and dance
dance dance da da da da dance

And I danced all day as the sun spun
I danced and danced for no one
All day and into the night
And all the while I wore a smile
