Bio

Anne Miller is the new girl next door. Her honest, soulful, and sexy demeanor whirls its way through her lyrics and melodies. You can’t put your finger on it, but you’d swear you’ve met her somewhere.

Anne started on her musical journey in high school, where she performed solos at holiday church service. In college she visited every karaoke bar in the Boston area, including the famed Cheers bar. Although Anne’s goal was to finish film school, music always found its way into her projects and was an important part of her vision.

After moving to Los Angeles to work in the film industry, Anne joined a few different garage bands and hit the LA music scene . . . She also attended several performance workshops taught by Sue Fink at McCabe’s Guitar Shop.
In 2003, Anne worked with Grammy-nominated producer Marta Woodhull and Grammy-nominated Producer/Arranger John Phillip Shenale. With their help she recorded her first song “Who Fell First.”

Anne continued writing songs for her demo, and in 2004, hooked up with producer Scott Baldyga. Together they created a 4 song demo. Anne wrote and co-arranged all the songs.

Anne’s bluesy-pop sound has been compared to Melissa Etheridge, Alanis Morisette, and Susan Tedeschi. If you ask her who her musical influences are you might be surprised . . . she listens to and absorbs everything from Madonna to 50 Cent and Eminem to Gwen Stefani and women’s music legend Chris Williamson. “I try to take something from everything I hear . . . I’m keenly aware of lyric structure in the variety of genres I listen to. I’m a music geek--I love to figure out the lyrics and how they are woven into a melody.”

When asked about her current demo release and what to expect, Anne says, “It’s honest, but however you want to define it is fine with me. I think people will hear me in these songs . . . or at the very least they’ll hear the me I wish I could be.”

What does the future hold for Anne? She is currently writing songs for a full-length album to be released sometime next year. “My challenge now is to push myself to expose the core of who I am—it’s a very scary and revealing process . . . but I love it! It makes me feel alive to reveal something new about myself.”
