Bio

Winner of the 2005 Songwriter and Artist of the Year Awards (IMA), 2004 Vocalist of the Year Award(IMA), Anne Schaefer is exploding onto the Canadian music scene after two short decades of arduous work and life altering experiences! The October 2005 release into distribution of her debut album, “Twelve Easy Pieces” has found its way onto the airwaves of countless national CBC and Canadian campus radio programming as well as into the ears of reviewers and industry professionals who can’t keep quiet.

“…the best singer/songwriter you’ve never heard of…stunning debut album…simply sultry vocals…” – John Threlfall, Monday Magazine

“ This is a brilliant debut cd. It showcases a dozen impressive original songs that reflect Schaefer’s classically trained musicianship, jazz daring and road-won wisdom.”
– Joseph Blake, Times Colonist

“…stunning debut album…compellingly modern music about modern realities-performed by and artist in full possession of unique qualities: An exceptional voice, a poet’s eye, a courageous heart, and a damn fine set of guitar-picking fingers.”
– Gregg Quill, Toronto Star

“…she is a great musician with a clear love for jazz and world music…the press release says: the birth of a new star – you better believe it, in fact it is an understatement.”
-Andre Rheaume, Radio Canada

Born and raised in small town Saskatchewan, Anne’s childhood diet consisted of music, snow and wheat fields: teen years, music, snow and angst: young adulthood: music, travel and love: present day, music, humor and maturity.

Schaefer’s performance credentials include festivals in Canada, France, Mexico and Argentina where she resided for four years and made waves with her genre-blurring trio, Schaefer-Solino-Campos. Her musical flexibility has allowed her to share the stage with artists as diverse as folk/pop songstress, Mae Moore to the legendary jazz drummer, Roy Haynes.
