Best of the West: Venue Magazine's Top Banana Awards 2009
Celebrate all that was great and good in 2009 with Venue's Top Banana Awards
And the winners for TOP ACT 2009 are:
1 Zun Zun Egui
2 Annette Berlin
3 Kill it Kid
Previously best known for key roles in the likes of Big Joan and Male, Annette Berlin's stepped out into solo land with a sound ridiculously fully formed, all R'n'B tight and PJ Harvey forceful.
- Venue Magazine
Annette Berlin's four-woman front-line spread neatly across the width of the boat. Theirs was a cool performance, in the best sense – artful, moody and at times poetic, the music referential and intelligently constructed. Much hung on Annette's matter-of-fact delivery, seemingly disdainful of the convergence of hungry-eyed men towards the front, and she was Berlin and Bristol at once, shady business haunted by Katy Tucker's deft slide guitar. They could have been headliners. - Venue Magazine
