Biography

Annette’s new CD, Paradox Of Life, will be released February 19, 2008 through RED/Sony Distribution. The kick off for this solid uplifting and inspirational CD takes place in conjunction with Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Florida (BBBS) and Borders Books & Music Café. Annette has spearheaded this wonderful and first-of-its-kind event to benefit the local BBBS chapter. Sony/BMG's RED Distribution issued an Instant Release of Paradox Of Life available September 13th exclusively at Borders. Annette will perform selections from Paradox Of Life at three of the Borders stores in and around Fort Lauderdale September 15 & 16. The tour will proceed to Chicago in November, followed by Detroit and Boston.

This spring Annette penned the lyrics for a song inspired by a friend who is a lymphoma survivor. Annette performed the song – Getting Closer – at the annual Lymphomathon in Belleville, Michigan, which raised over $43,000. Her vision is to bring this song of hope and encouragement to others at Lymphomathons throughout the US.

Annette reflects: "Listening to uplifting and positive messages helps us in the midst of all the negativity in our world...and I believe that surrounding ourselves with uplifting and spiritually enlightening music can promote positive energy and provide us with the strength that we need in our daily lives."

Annette most certainly practices what she preaches with her new CD Paradox Of Life, as well as her current release, Growing Into Myself. On the label inspired RECORDS®, Growing Into Myself was released on February 21, 2006. Annette wrote the lyrics for several of the songs. The single "(Everything I Do) I Do It For You", written by Bryan Adams, was released to radio on May 2, 2005 and charted at #9 on the FMQB AC Top 40 Chart. Annette’s radio promotion team carried the momentum and released “Everything” to R&R mainstream AC radio on September 19, 2005 where it landed on the New & Active list. “Everything” then impacted Smooth Jazz radio last Fall and another single from the CD, “Ask”, was promoted to Christian Inspirational radio this past January (2006).

Annette’s radio promotion team strategically released her compelling cover of a Stevie Wonder creation – “Heaven Is 10 Zillion Light Years Away”. This song sped out of the gate this April, reaching #11 on the FMQB AC Top 40 Chart, and more airplay on Smooth Jazz stations nationwide.

An Italian immigrant born in a small town in the region of Calabria, Annette comes from a large musical family and has childhood memories of her father playing the mandolin and accordion. Some of her siblings are accomplished musicians. Annette’s melodious upbringing led to her involvement in a rich variety of professional musical groups and theatrical productions, including performing with The Kids From Wisconsin Ensemble. She was lead vocalist for a Jazz and Pop band that toured the Midwest. Annette has also enjoyed performing as a background vocalist for well-known regional entertainers.

Annette’s career took hold in 1993 with the recording of her debut album A Love Like Ours. A second album All The Way To Crazy, inspired RECORDS® release of a third CD deeper has seen Annette’s music continue to evolve into a beautiful, inspirational sound.

Annette’s music career is marked by her dedicated involvement with causes like Feed The Children, The University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and The Possible Dream Foundation and Big Brothers Big Sisters of America (BBBSA). Annette hopes that their 100-year milestone was just the beginning of a national campaign to encourage more adults to lend their time and talent mentoring a child in need of friendship and guidance. In honor of their 2004 Centennial kick off in New York, Annette performed at Chelsea Piers and Bryant Park.

Annette asked inspired RECORDS® to sponsor a 3 song CD, called I Believe, allowing the organization to sell and keep 100% of the proceeds. Annette has also performed for local BBBS chapters including the annual Dinner & Auction Gala at Mar-A-Lago to benefit the BBBS Palm Beach chapter.

Paradox Of Life

Written By: Annette LoCante

The paradox of life it seems
The risk it takes to live your dreams
And those who live between
Are puzzled by the pain

The unfulfilling soul exists
A life not lived much joy is missed
So dare to ease that load
Excitement, love in overload

The more I learn the less I know
And every turn I make along the road
Brings me back
To where it all began

We crawl, we walk, we run, we fall
What does it even matter
After all is said and done
We still don't know why we ran
We still don't know why we ran

To be or not to be
Is just a simple question after all
Is it the same for you and me
Can we agree on anything at all
When you think you finally have it right
That's the paradox of life
Paradox of life

We work and play and spend the day
As if we had to kill the time we have today
But that's ok, keep holding on

Make a wish upon a star
And hope that it will hear you where you are
A million miles away from where you are

What goes up comes down
We found the law of gravity profound
But there's something more we can't ignore
That keeps us spinning round and round
When you think you finally have it right
That's the paradox of life

Growing Into Myself

Written By: Annette LoCante-Blank

Contemplating wrong and right
There are no mistakes in life
Contemplating His path of light
Overwhelming me with insight

Now all my life
I’ll always be
Like the rooting of a tree
I’m growing into myself

Contemplating wrong and right
There are no mistakes in life
Only paths toward wholeness see
I’m growing into myself

Awareness comes before the grounding
When all these years of merely sounding
All ready there
This is only where
I’m growing into myself

Anchoring the oneness around me
Feeling this passion surround me
Overwhelming me with insight
Embracing His path of light

All my life
I know I’ll always be
Like the rooting of a tree
Growing into myself
I’m growing into myself

A Mother's Prayer

Written By: Annette

Somewhere tonight there’s a mother who prays
Not for me, for my child send an angel today
Surround her with light help me help her to grow
Give me wisdom to teach her the things she should know

Wrap her in love and shield her with wings
Open her world with clarity that your love brings
And the times in her life when the pain comes her way
Not for me, for my child send an angel today

Send an angel today
Not for me, for my child send an angel her way
Send an angel today

Faced with the choices she’ll make at crossroads
Will guide her to paths that will lighten her load
And just give me the strength to let go and I pray
Not for me, for my child send an angel today

Wrap her in your heavenly love
Not for me, for my child won’t you send an angel her way
Send an angel today

Wrap my child up in your love
Send her blessings from above today
Shield her with your wings
As her heart sings and prays
Send an angel today

Life Within

Written By: Annette

Try to find the life within
Take the breath that helps begin
Feel the beautiful surprise
When you take that step there’s no compromise

Compassion with authentic power
Feel life’s pulse in every hour
The passion of your inner light explore
All signs you can’t ignore

When you find the life within
Breath by breath you live again
Feel the wonder of a child
Play and laugh and live out loud

Wake up in His morning sun
He’ll shake up everything you’ve ever done
With every ray of light He sends
Each day a gift, a new chance to transcend

Offer up yourself in love
With peace and light on wings of doves
Clear your heart and fill your soul with power
With Him every minute every hour

Amaze Me

Written By: Annette

You never cease to amaze me
You never cease to embrace me
No one ever could phase me
Like You do

You never cease to amaze me
You never cease to keep trace of me
And no one ever could phase me
Like You do

I know in my heart
Every beat I share
With You from the start
You were always there

You never cease to amaze me
Jesus

Let It Shine

Written By: Michael Kowal

I made a wish; I made a wish on a star
And there you are, magically from afar
You came to me and brightened up every day
My little one, if I could only find the words to say
You are the light; you are the light of my world

Now look at you, look at all you’ve become
You make me proud, I’m so proud
Yet you’ve only begun
The years will fade, but this light won’t grow dim
‘Cause when I ever need you
I’ll make a wish on that star from within
Let it shine, you are the light of my world

If I could take the sun right from the sky
It would not compare
To the light that you shine in my life
You’re the one when all is said and done
And you will always be my little one

Creepin (You Creep Into Me)

Written By: Stevie Wonder Adaptation by M. Kowal

I can hear you calling
You catch me when I’m falling
How could this be
That you always creep into me?

On the beach I’m lying
You dry these tears I’m crying
How could this be?
You always creep into me

When I sleep at night
I feel a moment of ecstasy
Then I see your light
No wonder why you creep into my dreams
It couldn’t be I sleep alone
You’re always with me

Your love is so amazing
I know you will be staying
So let it be
You always creep into me

I can hear you calling
More than a dream
You’re always with me
And my life’s redeemed

All I Need

Written By: Annette

In the morning when I rise
My world’s transforming before my eyes
New day is dawning; all is new
I’m just responding to all You do

In the evening when I sleep
I pray believing my soul to keep
The night is falling; all is done
You are my calling, the only One

You’re all I need in this life
You’re all I need

And so a dreamer waits for You
The Great Redeemer
You know He holds the truth

(Prayer)
Dear Heavenly Father
Send all Your angels, all Your gifts of love
Please bless all the people that I love
Surround them with Your light and love
In every corner of my mind
I feel Your presence unconfined

Keeping It Real

Written By: Annette

When I feel Your breath upon my face
And I see the light within Your grace
I hear the flutter of wings
Lord I know amazing change You bring

This is why I know love is real
The sweet surrender that I feel
This is how I know You care
Your tender humbleness fills the air
Keeping It Real

And I feel the rhythm of Your heart
Pulsing life each breath imparts
In peaceful presence as I wait
This song of life You orchestrate

This is why I know it’s real
The sweet surrender that I feel
This is how I know You care
Your tender passion fills the air

I love every step that You walk
I love every word You talk
I love every move You make
I love every vow You stake
And every now You make
Keeping It Real

Forgive To Live

Written By: Annette

In this life we sometimes carry pain
Take all the burden, feeling the shame
Now let Spirit flow, only then you’ll know
You have to forgive to live

Forgive yourself and anyone else who caused you pain
Forgive yourself and anyone else so you may gain
Guidance from above, His heavenly love
Forgive yourself and anyone else who caused you pain
Forgive yourself and anyone else so you may gain
Filling your void, never feel annoyed again

Forgive yourself and anyone else who caused you pain
Forgive yourself, put your pride on the shelf let His grace reign
Forgive yourself and anyone else who caused you pain
Forgive yourself and anyone else in His great name
And so He tells us you have to forgive to live
You’ve got to forgive; you have to forgive
Forgive to live

Gifts

Written By: Annette

Running too fast to hear the whisper
So sweetly… So sweetly
Never opened my heart, never nurtured my soul
All these gifts tucked away so neatly
Twist of fate now I see my gifts still wrapped so completely

There they wait beyond those gates, gifts unclaimed
There they wait beyond those gates, gifts in my name
Those gifts, they could have been mine
In another space and time
There they wait… There they wait

If I could slow down and hear the whisper
So sweetly… So sweetly
I’d open my heart and nurture my soul
I’d claim these gifts that were tucked away so neatly
Please say it’s not too late to unwrap them so completely

Sailing

Written By: Christopher Cross

Well it’s not far down to paradise
At least it’s not for me
And if the wind is right you can sail away
And find tranquility
The canvas can do miracles
Just you wait and see, believe me

It’s not far to Never Never land
No reason to pretend
And if the wind is right you can find the joy
Of innocence again
The canvas can do miracles
Just you wait and see, believe me

Sailing takes me away
To where I’ve always heard it could be
Just a dream and the wind to carry me
Soon I will be free

Fantasy, it gets the best of me
When I’m sailing
All caught up in a reverie
Every word is a symphony
Won’t you believe me?

Well it’s not far back to sanity
At least it’s not for me
And when the wind is right you can sail away
And find serenity
The canvas can do miracles
Just you wait and see, believe me

Infinite Possibilities

Written By: Annette (from a prayer attributed to St. Therese)

May today there be peace within you, within you
May you trust your highest power
That you’re precisely where you’re meant to be
And may you not forget the infinite possibilities
Born of faith

May you use those gifts that you
Have received when you believe
And may you be content in knowing
You are a child, a child of God
And may you not forget the infinite possibilities
Born of faith

You’ve got to let His presence
Settle down in your soul
Give infinite praise for the love that He gave

The Scenic Route

Written By: Annette

THE SCENIC ROUTE
Lyrics by Annette
Music by Michael Kowal
©2005 Lo Canto Music BMI

I want to see the sights
Don’t want to miss a thing
I want to take my time
Lay back and enjoy
This beautiful life

I want to take a slow ride
And take in every view
I want to live my life
Out on the scenic route

I got my digital camera
Charged up and ready to go
I’m going to capture each moment
Frame by frame
Blow by blow

I want to take a slow ride
And change my point of view
I want to live my life
Out on the scenic route

On the scenic route
No trouble in sight
On the scenic route
You can travel light
On the scenic route
Nothing to hide
On the scenic route
Just enjoy the ride

I’ll send you off a postcard
And write “Wish you were here”
To lay back and enjoy
The beautiful sights
I’ll even send a souvenir

I want to take a slow easy trip
And take in every view
It’s time I lived my life
Out on the scenic route

On the scenic route
No trouble in sight
On the scenic route
You can travel light
On the scenic route
Nothing to hide
On the scenic route
Just enjoy the ride

I want to take a slow easy trip
And change my point of view
I want to live my life
Out on the scenic route

I want to take a slow ride
And change my point of view
I want to live my life
Out on the scenic route

What’s the rush
Why the hurry
When you’re moving too fast
You miss the joy
Of the journey
And the memories that last
Take it slow
Don’t you worry
That time passes by
Out on the scenic route
You’re looking at life

Time For A Change

Written By: Annette

TIME FOR A CHANGE
Lyrics by Annette
Music by Michael Kowal
©2005 Lo Canto Music BMI

It’s time for a change
It’s time for a change
It’s time to reinvent yourself a beautiful day
It’s time for a change
It’s time to break out of the chains
In your mind and see what you can find

You’re so predictable it’s unbelievable
It’s like you’re digital, so sharp around the edge
Your not smooth, no no that’s not you
You’re black and white, can’t see the gray’s
You take the same way home, most every day
So afraid to turn and take the scenic way
There’s more than one way home so take a detour
Life’s too short, you’ve got to stretch it

Time for a change
It’s time for a change
It’s time to reinvent yourself a beautiful day
It’s time for a change
It’s not too late to turn the page
This time it won’t be the same

Change
It’s time for a change
It’s time to reinvent yourself a beautiful day
It’s time for a change
It’s time to break out of the chains
In your mind and see what you can find
It’s time for a change

Your Spirit's Song

Written By: Annette

YOUR SPIRIT’S SONG
Lyrics by Annette
Music by Michael Kowal
©2005 Lo Canto Music BMI

Life’s fire, a burning desire
Pulls you in and draws you near
A siren song only you can hear
Life’s dance, it’s a chance

Takes you beyond the now and here
To a place where all is clear
A life’s direction, under Spirit’s protection
A universal connection

Life’s fire, lifting you higher
Feeling free when your Spirit sings

Takes you to a place you’ve never been
Inside a world that lives within
A song that you will understand
The karmic power in your hand

Let your Spirit sing your Spirit’s song
Set your Spirit free sing your Spirit’s song

Next stop ready or not
Next stop heart to heart
Next stop give it all you’ve got
You know His love is thicker than blood

You Take Me There

Written By: Annette

YOU TAKE ME THERE
Lyrics by Annette
Music by Michael Kowal
©1999 Lo Canto Music BMI

Did you ever dance on a rainbow?
Did you ever fly on Heaven’s wings?
Did you ever sing with an angel?
Did you ever fall between your dreams?
Well it’s easy to do when I think of you

Did you ever walk on a moonbeam?
Did you ever ride on a shooting star?
Did you ever look in the mirror?
Do you see yourself as you really are?
Well it’s easy to do when I look at you
You take me there

Did you ever reach the horizon?
Did you ever stop the hands of time?
Did you ever feed the fire
Feed the fire burning deep inside your mind?
Well it’s easy to do when I’m loving you

You lift me up so high
I can almost see forever
You give the love so true
My heart belongs to you

Take me there
And it’s right where I’ll always stay
It’s so easy to fly
So easy for me
When I think of you
You lift me up to a higher ground
Where I’ll stay

A Simple Thought

Written By: Annette

A SIMPLE THOUGHT
Lyrics by Annette
Music by Michael Kowal
©2005 Lo Canto Music BMI

Why can’t it be as easy as this
A simple thought a tender kiss
Why should it be so hard to express
A simple thought a sweet caress
Tell me why
Does anybody know?
Tell me why

Why should it be that we would forget
A simple thought when we first met
How could it be so hard to dismiss
A simple thought we can’t resist
Tell me why

Ask

Written By: Annette

ASK
Lyrics by Annette
Music by Michael Kowal
©2005 Lo Canto Music BMI

It’s time to ask how do you live each day
Cause in the end is it memorable in any way
Or just another day

Did you look into another’s eyes
And offer hope or simply give some empty lies
Empty lies oh what a surprise
Ask this time
Better ask this time

It’s time to listen to that inner voice
Cause in the end
You know you always have a choice
Ask this time

Do you hear the sound of another’s tears
Do you reach for a way to stop those fears
Those fears a way to stop those fears
Ask this time

Rain Dance

Written By: M. Kowal

RAIN DANCE
Lyrics by Annette
Music by Michael Kowal
©1999 Lo Canto Music BMI

We all need a little rain to fall after all its only fair
We all need a little time to give, time to take, time to share
We all need a little rain, rain to fall to drown the fire
And we all need a little rain, its nature’s prayer

A little time to lead, time to wait, time to follow
We all need a little time to sleep, time to wake and dream tomorrow
We all need a little sun, sun to shine, to light the fire
We all need a little rain, its nature’s prayer

A time to stop, a time to go, a time to ask, a time to know
A time to run, a time to crawl, a time for one, a time for all
A time to sing, a time to pray, a time to work, a time to play
A time to laugh, a time to cry, a time live, a time to die

All is fair in love and war
In nature’s prayer what’s less is more
So come my friend by fate or chance
What’s now is then come join the dance

A little time to win, time to lose, it’s only fair
We all need a little time to learn, time to teach, time to share
We all need a little wind, wind to blow, to lift us higher
We all need a little rain, its nature’s prayer

A time to dance, a time to sing, a time to have, a time to need
A time to love, a time to hate, a time for chance, a time for fate
A time to stop, a time to go, a time to ask, a time to know
A time to run, a time to crawl, a time for one, a time for all

A time to sing, a time to pray, a time to work, a time to play
A time to laugh, a time to cry, a time to live, a time to die
A time to burn, a time to freeze, a time to learn, a time to teach
A time for sure, a time to tease, a time for war, a time for peace

Love Will Change The World

Written By: Annette; M. Kowal

Can you feel it, love

Can you feel the power
Let it move you out of control
Every minute, every hour
Where it leads to heaven knows

So move on to the real thing
And never let it go
You’ve got to hold onto the feeling
And love will change the world

Love will change, rearrange
Love will change this world

You’ve got to give it up
Give it up for love
You’ve got to give it up

Lock into this rhythm
And listen to the sound
Don’t take more than what you’re giving
And let it turn you upside down

When someone needs your helping hand
Reach out and spread the word
Then everyone can understand
Only love can change the world

Feel the spirit
Let the power come to you

Love will change it
Yes it will

Love will change it
Love can rearrange
Only love will change the world

Turn it upside down
Turning you around
Turning it upside down
Here we go

Give it up, give it up
You’ve got to give it up for love

After Your Song Is Sung

Written By: M. Kowal

After the oceans dry
After the desert weeps
After the sun fades from the sky

After the mountains fall
After the valleys rise
After enormities grow small
Thy will be done
After Your song is sung

After the blinded see
After the silence screams
After all tongues can agree

After the dark is light
After the earth stands still
After all people unite
Thy will be done
After Your song is sung

Christmas Waltz

Written By: Annette LoCante-Blank

CHRISTMAS WALTZ
Lyrics by Annette
Music by Michael Kowal
©2007 Lo Canto Music BMI

I want to dance this Christmas
I want to dance this Christmas
I want to dance this Christmas waltz with you

Under the mistletoe tonight
I want to kiss till the morning light
I want to dance this Christmas waltz with you

I know you’re miles away
I know your smiles are fading
As I’m waiting tears invading my face
But they can’t erase

And I still hear your voice
Like the first time I saw you were calling
I was falling for you
My dream come true

Under the mistletoe tonight
I’ll be missing you here by my side
I want to dance this Christmas waltz with you

I don’t need a fancy dance floor
I don’t need anything more
Than your arms wrapped around me tonight

Don’t need a gift on the tree
Don’t need a card on the table
Saying if you were only able to be here with me

See the mistletoe tonight
See me wishing you here by my side
See I want to dance this Christmas waltz with you

I want a chance this Christmas
I want a chance this Christmas
I want a chance this Christmas
You’ll waltz through my door just once more

Under the mistletoe tonight
I dance alone in three quarter time
I want to dance this Christmas
How I want to dance this Christmas
I want to dance this Christmas waltz with you
