Biography

"I was a bluegrass songwriter for a long time," explains Annie Lynn. "And somehow, I now find myself neck deep in the children's music genre. It's a niche that sort of found me...no, it OVERTOOK me. There was no escape! Really. With kids, they give you enough material to fill at least a CD a year, so you have no choice but to run with it."

A collaboration between Annie and engineer/producer/songwriter Chris Arms, produced pop anthems "NO TIME FOR HATE," & "STOP THAT!" which are endorsed by & licensed to Teachers Against Prejudice (www.teachersagainstprejudice.org), as well as A Better Philadelphia, Inc. (www.abetterphiladelphia.org

Annie Lynn and Chris Arms currently hold ten international songwriting awards, and have been receiving generous radio/podcast/written reviews.

Recently, Annie took one of the elementary schools that licensed her songs to perform at the Harrisburg, PA State Capitol Rotunda for state senators, representatives & visitors on an anti-bullying platform.

VERSE 1: (ADULT TO CHILD:)

Back away from that cookie jar
Stop and stand where you are
I’ve got eyes in the back of my head
And my ears have sonar

Don’t you use those puppy dog eyes
Don’t you think it’ll work on me………..

CHORUS:

No there isn’t any more (CHILD: Why Not?)
No you can’t have any more (CHILD: Oh Come On!)
You can sit and moan
I’ll be on the phone
(CHILD: ) Well I need some more,
I’m a growing kid
Can I have some more, (TOGETHER:) THAT'S ALL THERE IS

VERSE 2:

(CHILD: ) Can I please watch one more TV show
(PARENT:)It’s up to bed now you go

NEW SCHOOL

Written By: Words & Music by: Annie Lynn(ASCAP)

I’m going to a new school this year

I don’t know what I’ll find I’ve got some fears

Like what if I get lost

Or what if I get crossed by a big hairy ape of a unibrowed kid?

(Alex Speaking… “Sidenote, the word unibrowed means having one eyebrow. Uni is a prefix meaning one….. my Granny taught me that! Anyway……”)

I’m going to a new school this year (Hannah: Me Too!)

We don’t know what we’ll find, we’ve got some fears
(Hannah: Well, Just a few…..)

(BOTH)
Like will we make new friends,
who like us just the way
We act and dress and play
(Alex) And can burp at will all day…….. (burp)
(Hannah Speaking) Hey I can do that too (burp)………
(Alex Speaking) Nice touch
(Hannah Speaking) Thank you

(BOTH)

We’re going to a new school this year

We don’t know what we’ll find, we’ve got some fears

Like will they have good food

Will the lunch ladies be rude

Will one have a hairy mole at the end of her chin?

BRIDGE:
(Hannah) We’re going to a new school, which Teachers will we like?
(Alex) My mom says that her music teachers changed her path in life….
(Hannah Speaking) Deep Dude……

We’re going to a new school this year,

Though we don’t know what we’ll find we have good cheer

So we’ll get our backpacks ready, and put our swimsuits away

And we’ll all meet at our new school, okay?

And we’ll all meet at our new school, okay?

And we’ll see you at our new school, okay!

(Hannah & Alex: Beep, beep…….there’s the bus……. see you there, see you soon…. Man….I hope they don’t have tuna for lunch…….)

(composer’s note:)

(NO OFFENSE IS INTENDED IN ANY WAY TO THE HARDWORKING LUNCHLADIES THAT RUN OUR SCHOOLS CAFETERIAS. WITHOUT THEM, OUR CHILDREN WOULD NOT BE AS WELL FED. IT’S JUST THAT LAST YEAR, THERE WAS THIS ONE LUNCH LADY THAT did HAVE A HAIRY MOLE, AND SO I COULDN’T RESIST THROWING IT IN THE SONG. ALSO, NO OFFENSE IS MEANT TO THE TUNA INDUSTRY. ALSO, THE COMPOSER DOES NOT ACTUALLY ADVOCATE BURPING IN SONGS, LET ALONE ON NATIONAL RADIO, IT JUST SORT OF HAPPENED THAT WAY…….) a.l.

This song was awarded Honorable Mention in the John Lennon Songwriting Competition in 2007.

THIS SONG WAS #1 ON THE BROADJAM.COM BLUEGRASS AND CHILDREN'S GENRES FOR 3 WEEKS, AND IS STILL IN TOP 10. (great job, Alex & Hannah!)

Listen (a nature song)

Written By: (Words & Music) Annie Lynn(ASCAP)

One morning I ventured out for some fresh air

I felt the cool breeze, blow through my hair

I took a good look at the fish in the brook

They had not to fear the man and his hook

CHORUS:

Please don’t send me away,
Just sit down and listen to what I must say

I’ve looked at our world, and I love what I see

But lately some things are troubling me

If we don’t take care of the earth and the sea

Our planet won’t make it, it’ll just cease to be

CHORUS:

Please don’t send me away,
Just sit down and listen to what I must say

BRIDGE:

We can make it better
We can make a difference
If we change our wasteful ways
Maybe we’ll have more days…….

So love your earth, take care, watch her grow

Make an example, and others you’ll show

Speak out for her rights and you’ll never be wrong

Together we’ll make it, our earth will be strong

CHORUS:

Please don’t send me away,
Just sit down and listen to what I must say

Please don’t send me away,
Just sit down and listen to what I must say

NO TIME FOR HATE

Written By: Lyrics: Annie Lynn (ASCAP) Music: Annie Lynn & Chris Arms (ASCAP)

“NO TIME FOR HATE”
Words: Annie Lynn(ASCAP)
Music: Annie Lynn & Chris Arms(ASCAP)

(Alex speaking: ) : "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that ALL men are created equal."

Verse 1

Why do you hate me, why do you hate me?
You don’t even know me.
Is it my skin, or don’t I fit in?
Why don’t you get to know me?
Well I’ve learned some things, though it took quite a while,
I tried a new point of view.
I saw people as brothers and sisters alike.
It felt like the right thing to do……. (speaking: Cause you see……..)

CHORUS

There’s No Time For Hate
Stand up and show it, you never just know,
It might open your eyes, and then you’ll see why,
There’s No Time, there’s No Time For Hate!!!!

VERSE 2

We all are different, and we should respect that,
And we should recognize,
That we’re more alike, than different you see….. so won’t you join with me?

CHORUS

There’s No Time For Hate
Stand up and show it, you never just know,
It might open your eyes, and then you’ll see why,
There’s No Time, there’s No Time For Hate!!!!

BRIDGE

We need to face up to the problems we have.
And working together’s the key
Solutions are born when we listen and learn
I’m feeling a big change in me…….. (speaking: cause you see……)

CHORUS (double)

There’s No Time For Hate
Stand up and show it, you never just know,
It might open your eyes, and then you’ll see why,
There’s No Time, there’s No Time For Hate!!!!
There’s No Time For Hate
Stand up and show it, you never just know,
It might open your eyes, and then you’ll see why,
There’s No Time, there’s No Time For Hate!!!!
There’s No Time for Hate (3X), THERE’S NO TIME FOR HATE
ONLY LOVE!!!

STOP THAT!

Written By: Annie Lynn & Chris Arms

"STOP THAT!"

(Child #1 speaking) Oh no, here comes that bully. What should I do?

(Child #2 speaking) "We need to stand up to her and tell her to stop it!"

(Child #1 speaking) Let's do it!

VERSE 1:

STOP THAT!

We see what you're doing

STOP THAT!

This just can't go on

STOP THAT!

Now's the time for things to change

We are gonna rearrange this place

So I am going to try and forgive

And I want you to know why...

CHORUS:

If putting me down makes you feel good

If hurting me makes you feel better

That feeling's nothing compared to kindness

And friendship, we all have so much to offer

(Child #1 speaking) What should I do? This kid just won't stop bullying me!

(Child #2 speaking) You've got to tell an adult. They can help. Come on - I'll go with you.

VERSE 2:

STOP THAT!

We must stand united

You've got to understand

STOP THAT!

Cause we're no good divided

Just take a wrong and right it - I know you can

Yes, I am going to try and forgive

And I want you to know why...

CHORUS:

If putting me down makes you feel good

If hurting me makes you feel better

That feeling's nothing compared to kindness

And friendship, we all have so much to offer

BRIDGE:

And if you're bullying others to try and fit in

Well you know you're better than that

LEAD

DOUBLE CHORUS:

If putting me down makes you feel good

If hurting me makes you feel better

That feeling's nothing compared to kindness

And friendship, we all have so much to offer

STOP THAT! STOP THAT! STOP THAT! STOP THAT! .......... STOP THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LEAVIN' ME SIGNS words & music: Annie Lynn

1st VERSE:

All of my life you've been leavin' me signs
I just didn't realize it then
Had they been written in bright neon ink
Yeah I think I'd have been with the plan
When the road took a fork there was always a sign
If I didn't like your way, I just made up mine
But I'm ready to see now that you know my way
Yeah my map it is no longer grey

CHORUS:
Cause you're leavin' me signs, signs, signs
With a bright neon pen
So that I can follow your road
Keep leavin' me signs, signs, signs
And if life don't make sense
I pray that you'll lighten my load

2nd Verse:

I'm probably on my eighteenth chance
Since that cold and stormy day that I arrived
But you must have been watchin', and I know that you cared
Which is how that I must have survived

CHORUS:
Cause you're leavin' me signs, signs, signs
With a bright neon pen
So that I can follow your road
Keep leavin' me signs signs, signs
and if life don't make sense
I pray that you'll l lighten my load

3rd Verse:
I used to believe in right place and right time
I mean, what else could it be?
Well it isn't just luck, and some call it fate
But I see it as destiny

DOUBLE CHORUS OUT

( "SIGNS" SPENT 12 WEEKS IN TOP 10 COUNTRY/BLUEGRASS CATEGORY ON BROADJAM.COM)
