BIO
New female country artist Annie Marleau is a singer/songwriter known for her powerful melodies and catchy hooks. Her distinctive vocals are versatile enough to cut through a pounding guitar riff or float over a quiet ballad. Her voice has been described as “mature, deep and emotional “, possessing an unmatched soulfulness with total emotional commitment in her delivery.

On her debut country release, the EP "Heart and Soul", Annie has found her true sound, a rich country-pop with tinges of blues and rock. Inspired by such artists as Dixie Chicks, Sheryl Crow and The Eagles, the five songs range from the upbeat “I Need Your Love,” “Something’s Gotta Give,” “Gasoline''(co-written with Steve Fox),” and “Addicted 2U” to the gentler “Modern Day Romeo” which was nominated for the 2008 Ontario Independent Music Award in the country category. The tracks were produced by Carl Jennings in Hamilton and mixed and mastered by Niko Bolas (Neil Young) and Richard Dodd (Dixie Chicks) at Blackbird Studios in Nashville. Additional “radio mixes” were done by John Nazário in Toronto and mastered by Peter Letros ( Sony).

In December 2008, Annie released her debut single “Addicted 2U” to radio which she supported with a radio tour across Canada. Her hard work and determination paid off with her single receiving substantial airplay across the country. By March 2009, Annie was charted #10 Canadian Female Country Artist on the Trax Report. In April 2009, she released her second single “Gasoline” to radio which was co-written with Steve Fox.

This past summer Annie opened for the Wilkinsons at the Burlington Sound of Music Festivals and was also chosen to open for Murray McLaughlan at the Oakville Waterfront Festival. She was also a featured songwriter during the Nashville Songwriter’s Association’s Tin Pan North this past May.

Annie is currently writing songs for her next country album which she plans to record over the winter months and release in early 2010.
