Bio

After thirteen years of loyal services, over 350 concerts in several countries and an impressive discography, Anonymus zeal remains contagious. ¨Daemonium¨ renews the band with the winning ¨do it yourself¨ formula. In this ¨back to basics¨ spirit, the band has taken total control of its artistic vision under the supervision of Carlos Ponte. The troops exiled themselves at Studio Wild in Saint-Zénon. Studio metal connoisseur Pierre Rémillard handled the basic recording and mix of the 12 metallic explosions. To hell and back...this newest Anonymus effort has hit the mark and risks causing a stir and euphoria within the planet's metalhead community. When compared with the group's previous work, ¨Daemonium¨ positions itself as the missing link between influences like Pantera (Mean world system) and the contemporary evolution (Invisible man) initiated by System Of A Down and Queens Of The Stone Age. Several introductions provide shock and surprises, navigating between the experimentations of Pierre Boulez (In your face) and the classicism guitar (La mano criminal). Without a doubt, the rhythmic assault of each track will test the best metal athletes around. The lyrics flow with consciousness (Loto-destruction, Fou moi la paix), plead for individual emancipation (Burning the candle both ends, Why be the judge?) and relate to demonic practices (Mephisto, Demons are forever). To qualify ¨Daemonium¨ as a mature album is tempting, however, Anonymus seems to redefine itself with each ¨at bat¨. The Anonymus adventure boils down to a ¨do or die¨ friendship - the band's evolution is based on this unique certainty. The precocious meeting of Carlos Araya (drums), Marco Calliari (guitar and vocals) with brothers Daniel (guitar) and Oscar Souto (bass and vocals) metamorphosised in January 1989 into a decibelic odyssey that blows a furious and powerful gust of metal. In 1994, the independently produced CD entitled ¨Ni vu, ni connu¨ is released. In 1996 the band signs with MPV-KAFKA Records and wins a prestigious MIMI award (Montreal Independent Music Industry Award) as best metal band of the year. They follow-up these accolades with a live vinyl recording with Overbass that delivers a hard driving version of the classic ¨La Bamba¨. Their second album released in 1997, ¨Stress¨, confirms the band's status of as an up and coming force to be reckoned with. The CD delivers an inspired feast of metal sublimity in several international languages - English, French, Spanish and Italian. ¨Terrorizer¨ mag, the metal press leader, qualifies ¨Stress¨ as ¨brilliant stuff¨. In April 1998, Anonymus performs as headliner for several sold out gigs at the prestigious Montreal Spectrum and also shares the stage with Biohazard, while later that same summer the band played at the Milwaukee Metalfest and the Polliwog Festival outdoor concert tour with Anthrax. Anonymus then quickly moved on to Mexico where new fans and the specialized metal press were impressed by the bands energetic and dynamic concerts. Mexico's searing heat complimented the band's boiling energy as they opened for Blind Guardian. In 1999, the band's growing legion of fans celebrated Anonymus' 10th anniversary and their reinvigorated goal of reaching international heights with a second visit to the Milwaukee Metalfest. Anonymus confidently reached for the larger English international market with ¨Instinct¨, their fourth album release produced by British studio wiz Colin Richardson (Machine Head, Fear Factory, Carcass, Napalm Death...). The album covers the classic metal gambit while being fed by experimental doses of hardcore opera. This break through CD reveals the band's true and exciting potential. Anonymus pays homage to their definition of audacity with the release of a well-received limited edition multimedia version of ¨Instinct¨. Its contents are complete and insightful: interviews, live performances and video-clips of Feed the dragon and Virtually insane. In support of the album the band tours incessantly and eventually crosses the pond to France where they perform with Watcha. With over 13000 albums sold so far, Anonymus is back with their newest shock metal treatment ¨Daemonium¨. Get ready to bow down and pay homage to heaven...or hell!
