Elton John’s lyrics “solid walls of sound” came to mind last night listening to Another Fine Crisis at Ash Street Saloon. Shannon Fudge (vocals) sings like Grace Slick. Problem was, I just couldn’t sink my teeth into it any more than you can sink your teeth into a solid brick wall.
The music starts strong and stays strong to the end… typical of the rock scene in Portland. It was all drive – the melodic form was lacking. Not to say that their music was bad, it was really great music. They just need to change it up a bit to pull the listener in and also let the vocals come to the front.
The vocals were fighting for the front but the guitars seemed to hold the front. Mike Smith (bass and vocals) also has a very compelling voice and his harmonization with Shannon was amazing – a better sound check would have helped. - SOTSMusic.com
An eclectic assortment of local musicians have banded together to fight hunger in our own backyard.
Auralust, Right On John, Don’t Trust Triston, Raging Angel, Another Fine Crisis, Tina S. Marie and Blood Dried Black will perform at the Gravity Room, across West Burnside Street from one of our city’s busiest homeless shelters.
Sound vs. Hunger is an ongoing effort to raise money for local shelters and soup kitchens, with shows taking place twice a year.
If you can’t make it, there are donation drop boxes for canned food set up in various downtown businesses, such as neighboring Voodoo Doughnut.
8 p.m. SATURDAY, Sept. 16, the Gravity Room, 6 S.W. Third Ave., $8 - Portland Tribune
AFC's song "Burn It Down" is featured in the movie "Lit Up" , an independent flick filmed in Portland Oregon. It won High Times - "The Highest Movie of the Year" 2007! Check out Lit Up's Myspace page for more about this movie. - AFC
Because of Another Fine Crisis’ startling originality and focus, AFC seems on the verge of re-invigorating Portland Oregon’s female fronted hard rock in a way only hinted at in recent years. AFC’s buzz saw guitar, throbbing bottom end, groove power beats, and tall Betty Page lookalike singer rescue the Portland hard rock stage from too many angry dudes! {}

Bio
There's Another Fine Crisis in the rock world today. A severe deficiency is occurring in two areas of today's rock music world. The first is the female voice, the second is powerful songs crafted by musicians who rage on their instruments. That's what AFC is here for. We're taking our influences - Muse, Deftones, Tool, Chili Peppers, Soundgarden, System of the Down - and tightly ramping them up a notch while retaining the instinct for catchy, hook-laden songs. Add Shannon's commanding vocals and Mike's harmonies with Aaron's exuberant guitar and Todd's monstrous drums and you have Another Fine Crisis. Coming to a stage near you.
