Bio

Another Life is a Boston, MA Rock Group who is now expanding their regional and global circuit. Currently in their early 20’s, all members of the band have been musicians for about 10 years. Born of two unlikely bed partners, Grunge and Jazz, Another Life’s influences range immensely. The band's sound hints at Pink Floyd, Guns N’ Roses, Stone Temple Pilots, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pearl Jam, Led Zeppelin, and many other heavy hitters of the last 40 years. Unique however is the incorporation of their strong Jazz background. Often heard are curious whispers from the world of Jazz, including improvisational tangents. Another Life's strong songwriting skills show through with blatant hook-power sharpened into a gleaming hard rock edge. This is complimented by a mysterious X-factor created out of this strange ‘grunjazz’ mutation. Over time, these aspects have given way to something completely new. No fan or member can define it, but its there. Each song has a personality of its own that is just out of reach for typecasting.

Another Life came from two separate places. Stoneham, Massachusetts and Waterville, Maine. In Stoneham, Brian Berman (guitars), Christopher Vasques (bass), and Jon Denison (drums) learned the basics of the craft from a teacher’s extra time after school. In this ripe and early teenage timeframe, they immediately became obsessed with their immersion into this new world of sound. Later in their High School Jazz Ensemble, they would fuse Jazz techniques with Grunge style and attitude for a new kind of rock. None were aware at the time, but Grunge and Jazz would allow them to bridge many different styles harmoniously. This was the beginning.

Not far north, another young man was feeling the inspirational effects of the Grunge era. In Maine, Aaron Smith (vocals) began playing guitar after years of choir practice as a child. He eventually picked up the saxophone, and became member of his High School's Jazz Ensemble in Waterville. Throughout college, Aaron played parties and shows with friends, working on his songwriting abilities. Though there were many fruitful and satisfying projects, nothing would stick for the talented player.

After graduating college in Massachusetts, Aaron began to seek out music groups. He found an ad posted by 3 rock musicians whose background credentials came frighteningly close to his own, and decided to audition. After auditioning singers for nearly a year while building their own studio, these Stoneham boys knew something was special about Aaron. It was as if the 4 had been friends for years. Once they discovered his roots were connected to the same musical tree, they were convinced. The Another Life that is thriving and breaking ground right this minute was born on that day.

Another Life released their most recent disc, "The Ground Floor EP" on February 4th 2006. The occasion was a fantastic success. Currently the band is working on a full length follow up while playing select shows and appering on Bostons top Rock radio station WBCN 104.1 with A&R rep and owner of Fenway Recordings Mark Kates on the Touchier and Rich show.
