Bio

Since 2007 Antaean has been writing and performing their blend of modern, classic, and progressive rock in Columbus, Ohio where its four members Ben Schwarzwalder (Vocals & Guitar), Eric Morgan (Guitar), Aaron Lombardo (Bass Guitar), and Mark Maslowski (Drums) met while attending The Ohio State University. Antaean has been defined by its fans as “classically influenced rock with a modern twist”. Some of their influences include Muse, Black Sabbath, Alter Bridge, and Tool.

The name Antaean comes from the Greek mythological giant Antaeus, son of Gaia and Poseidon. Legend has it that Antaeus was indomitable so long as he remained in contact with the earth. This legend is symbolic of how the band operates as musicians; as long as they remain grounded and true to themselves, there is nothing they cannot accomplish. Indeed Antaean has accomplished much since they began making music, such as being featured in several written publications (Columbus Alive, The Columbus Dispatch, UWeekly) and on the regionally acclaimed radio station 99.7 The Blitz.

Antaean has released three 5-song EPs, as well as their most recent 11-song LP titled “Duality. By far their most ambitious release to date, Duality is a concept album telling a story of love versus lust through the eyes of a protagonist that must learn difficult lessons on the subject. Writing the album from this perspective required the band to push its creative boundaries, incorporating diverse musical styles to capture the emotion and atmosphere of the theme of each song. The album was recorded at JSR Studios (formerly John Schwab studios) where the band worked with lead engineer and producer Colin Coffey (Slash, Myles Kennedy, Halestorm) to take the album to the next level. After over a year of writing, recording, and design, the album was released December 7th 2012 and is currently being promoted through local radio, digital distribution, and live performance.
