Anthony Newes

BandFolkPop

Anthony Newes plays simple, melodic songs that are tailored to the young, old, and in-betweens alike. He is often compared to Hank Williams, Paul Simon and Elliot Smith. The comparisons can be found in his deep-rooted, story-telling lyrics about the everyday world with which we all live in.

Biography

Anthony Newes is no stranger to traveling throughout the country alone. Having lived in 5 states and visited nearly all 50 of them by the age of 21 it is still the whole-hearted conversations and stories he cherishes about the road. In 2005, Anthony made his way to Alaska with little more then a bike, his ukelele and the clothes on his back to get him by. He spent his time roaming the country-side writing songs and learning about The Last Frontier from the locals he met on his way. Many of these stories find their way to his repertoire of often auto-biological songs about love, death and the companionship of dogs. The majority of his simple, melodic songs have been found to run through the head of many a listener after hearing them but once. Even before releasing his first album Anthony shared the stage with a slough of great Minneasotan talent such as local legend Charlie Parr and Duluths' own The Hobo Nephews. Now with his first self-titled debut album Anthony Newes is ready to make his way throughout the country sharing the stories of his life with the aid of his voice, acousitc guitar, ukelele and harmonica. If you enjoy Paul Simon, Elliot Smith or Hank Williams then Anthony Newes will soon find a place in your heart as well.

Lyrics

Death Song for Rob

Written By: Anthony Newes

Where do we go when we die?
You fly the plane and I'll sit beside
You in this chair and go for a ride
Through the weary whistlin' wind

You....

The temperature's gonna change
For the better
And I'm alright if you're alright
My friend
The Mississippi's mighty as the
Ocean so don't turn your back and
Get caught up in the waves

You....

Ask someone just where you're at
And they'll tell you "you are there"
Then look them down
To make sure they are real

You....

Where do we go when we die?
You fly the plane and I'll sit beside
You in this chair and go for a ride
Through the weary whistlin' wind
