"...his voice creeps around, bending at the edges. It's unique without sounding strange. His songs, too, are distinctive. They're folky without sounding trite, acoustic without sounding like a guy in a dorm room. Topping it all off are these record's arrangements, and that weightless voice all around. What more do you want?" ---David Brusie (Musicforrobots.com) - David Brusie

Bio
Anthony Newes is no stranger to traveling throughout the country alone. Having lived in 5 states and visited nearly all 50 of them by the age of 21 it is still the whole-hearted conversations and stories he cherishes about the road. In 2005, Anthony made his way to Alaska with little more then a bike, his ukelele and the clothes on his back to get him by. He spent his time roaming the country-side writing songs and learning about The Last Frontier from the locals he met on his way. Many of these stories find their way to his repertoire of often auto-biological songs about love, death and the companionship of dogs. The majority of his simple, melodic songs have been found to run through the head of many a listener after hearing them but once. Even before releasing his first album Anthony shared the stage with a slough of great Minneasotan talent such as local legend Charlie Parr and Duluths' own The Hobo Nephews. Now with his first self-titled debut album Anthony Newes is ready to make his way throughout the country sharing the stories of his life with the aid of his voice, acousitc guitar, ukelele and harmonica. If you enjoy Paul Simon, Elliot Smith or Hank Williams then Anthony Newes will soon find a place in your heart as well.
