Anthony Selassie

Known for such hits as Ya Ho, recorded with Louie Culture on the Harmony House label, Anthony Selassie is a dynamic roots reggae performer who has taken the best from reggae's tradition of great sound, and combined it with topics from today's headlines. He is a classic performer who can rock you with a sweet ska, and then sock you with a wild nyabinghi beat. He is conscious, spiritual and talented. He can sing a smooth and silky lover's rock, as well.

Selassie's original music is what Jamaican reggae is really all about. He is well known throughout the industry as a recording engineer and mixer, but his voice is what Jah (God) has given him to spread the message of reliance on the Most High and the importance of showing love for all of Jah's people. It is also the gift Jah has given him to let the world remember what great reggae music is. One listen, and you are a fan. He brings the voice of hope to people who are oppressed by the spiraling crime rate, violence, war and dislocation. His message is that trust in Jah and love and respect for one another can bring a brighter tomorrow.

Selassie’s beautiful, rounded tones touch the heart and soul. His music is conscious and uplifting – virtues that have been lost in much of today’s music. Most of his recordings use live instruments and often are mixed through an analogue board to give them rich, full-bodied, warm sounds.
