"ANTHONY WAYNE BACK IN ACTION"

"The sound is smooth and melodic at times, yet very percussive and intense at others. His style is well-rounded, drawing upon influences ranging from Tom Waits, Steve Earle and Wilco to Blind Melon."

Jeff Russell - THE MURFREESBORO PULSE

"UPRIGHT BASS ADDS DIMENSION TO LOCAL ROCK BAND"

"straight up raw kind of sound..."

"anything but what's tradionally expected from a local rock group.."

"guitarist, Anthony Wayne and bassist J bring a wealth of knowledge and fresh ideas to a table that may be cluttered with artists trying to be anything but true to themselves."

Cindy Watts

Bio

"Anthony Wayne IS my name. However, when i look back over the years and see what we have done as a group, the tunes we have written as a group, the people we have come in contact with as a group; well, then it seems that the name wasn't really all that important. It was the message."

"I was in a few bands. J was in a few bands. We were both in a few bands together. It wasn't until we joined years later to form this incarnation of music, that we really found what we wanted within music."

Anthony Wayne, as a band, began a few years ago in Murfreesboro, TN, with Anthony Wayne, a stomp board and a guitar. Playing coffee shops and cigar bars for tips. "I started out as a drummer, but had always been a writer. I knew there was a better way to express myself, to tell folks what I had on my mind. A better way to show people. So I taught myself guitar pretty quick."
After writing many tunes alone, Anthony called on his old friend J to help with recording and possibly playing some live shows. The communion seemed to fit very quickly and soon plans were made to hire a drummer and flesh out this new found material.
"I met Steve at a pizza joint and asked him to join up with us. We were hit and miss for a few months and then finally talked. He came out and we fit real nice. It was pretty special. I had known J for ten years and we were very close, still are. It was a little weird how well Steve fit in with us"

Many shows and tunes later, the boys are set to release, "Bury Who We Are" in the Spring of 2008.
"We're really proud of this record. It has said so many things that I never could by myself. From the lyrics to the musicians that helped give it Life to the way it makes me feel"
A record about giving up on oneself, understanding why we are the way we are, and then learning to accept Life as it's handed to us and finding courage to change and alter the entire fabric of how we are made to the point of being unmoved as we bury who we are to let a new person start again.

"It's the single most important thing
i've ever put my hands on and my heart into. Of course i'm biased, it's my yard so I see no tall grass," Anthony says with a grin.

With influences ranging from his past to current musical and artistic breatheran, Anthony, J and Steve Wolfe create an elaborate songscape of images and music put to canvas.
"Sometimes I hear early U2 mixed with the funk of the 70s. Then I'll blink and we're playing something from the newer songbook of Blind Melon or Wilco. Don't get me wrong, I love those bands and love being at the same barbecue."

Although, musical inspiration and artistic adulation is key in the birthing part of a band, it is important that we speak of the message.
"I just want people to understand that Life is a series of moments that are connected by patience and a love of sorts. We are basically who we are, that's evident. However, we have all the power within us to completely change that person and achieve anything and everything that we desire. It's true. It may sound cliche' but I need folks coming to the shows and leaving with the power to create change and not be afraid to stand."

With a debut record on the way and the power of change in their hearts Anthony Wayne, as a band, are headed higher and higher. Challenging everyone to take a look at themselves and if questions arise and decisions need to be made, then hopefully we rise to the occasion and if needed, Bury Who We Are.
