“Broken Heart” on ChrysDee Records is impressive on a lot of levels. Right off the bat, you’ve got to respect the fact that one man could almost single handedly put together a project from writing and performing all the way down to the cover artwork and design. Yes Prince and a some other artist have done similar teats but, like a fingerprint, every artist has a unique sound and style. I am not so good at categorizing music but I hear a number of genres on “Broken Heart”, so you may want to place it in the multi-genre section.

On the title tract “Broken Heart” and “Sea Of Tears”, you’ll hear a lot of blues coming out of Anton’s guitar. Then again on “Sexy Baby” you’ll the funk. “The Answer” on the other hand mixes elements of traditional jazz with old school R&B.
Of the ten tracks on “Broken Heart” seven are originals. It’s really hard for me to compare Anton’s voice to another singer as in he sounds like so and so. Maybe you can. But since he is singing his own material, all I can say is, I like it and his voice works well on these songs, not to mention the fact that he did all the background vocals as well as bass playing, drum programming, keyboard work, lyrics, engineering, and transportation and catering. If this were the army, he’d be in line for some kind of medal - a Purple Heart, a Bronze Star or something. Aside from some outside mastering and the three tunes he didn’t write, Anton did it all.

Having listened to the entire CD I must say I enjoyed the musical journey and look forward to the next installment. In the meantime I wouldn’t be surprised if Anton’s next venture might be a live show. Of course those of us who remember LEADHEAD know that he definitely has a knack for putting together a kickass live band, so this really wouldn’t be a surprise.

Still working on that hot first release.

Anton is a recording artist with ChrysDee Records. His next CD "Fantasy" is due out in late June. Fantasy is a nice blend of up tempo dance songs like "Sexy Baby" to the laid back smooth groove of the title song "Fantasy". You will find yourself tapping your feet to his cover of "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" by Marvin Gaye and "I Can't Get Next To You" by the Temptations. You can hear a sample of Fantasy and other songs on this site. You can get his first two CD's, "Broken Heart" and "I Like It" on You will hear a lot of R&B, funk, soul and blues on his music.

Anton and his band have been together since 1980. They have played for crowds from 100 people to 40,000 people. From high school dances to concerts at RFK Stadium and The Capital Centre in Washington, DC. He has played on shows with a lot of groups you will know. OK, let me drop a few names. They've worked with Earth, Wind and Fire, The Commodores, The Bay Kays, Rufus and Chaka Khan, War, LaBelle, Parliament Funkadelic, The O'Jays, The Whispers, Rare Earth, The Isley Brothers, the Dells and others. His group was called Leadhead back then.
