The Susquehanna Folk Music Society (SFMS), has been introducing Antonio Andrade to our audiences since 2003 through our Coffee House series. The SFMS Coffee Houses are presented three times a year with the intent of showcasing some of Central Pennsylvania's finest acoustic musicians in an atmosphere that is attentive to the music. Antonio fills the bill exceptionally well. He establishes a relationship with the audience immediately and commands their attention with his songs and stage presence. His performances are marked with energy and emotion. The audience responds in kind.
Antonio has also performed for us at our annual Fort Hunter Day celebration in September, 2006. His set of original songs was a crowd favorite. We like him so much, we have him scheduled to open a show for one of our national acts on April 28, 2007.

Perry County Council of the Arts has five years of history with Antonio Andrade as a professional music performer. As the local arts agency for Perry County, our programs and services are diverse in nature, as are our settings for performances. From the PCCA Coffeehouse to the PCCA Festival at Little Buffalo (now in hiatus), to CD sales of his 2000 release, straydog, in the PCCA Gallery, we have profited from our dealings with Antonio.
As our past PCCA Festival performer liaison enthused, "Antonio is where he is supposed to be when he's supposed to be there. He follows cues from our House staff and from the Headliner's people. He gets on and off of the stage as scheduled and always presents a good set." That was high praise from the individual responsible for the logistics of national, regional, and local performers sharing one outdoor stage at Little Buffalo State Park each September.
Antonio's professionalism is only the first characteristic that sets his performance apart. Original music is what we prefer at PCCA Coffeehouse and Antonio delivers. He has penned some inspiring work. His live performances have also demonstrated his proficiency at covers. People snap their fingers and stamp their feet with his rhythms. His enthusiasm, good humor, and personal warmth invite listeners to come closer and return to hear him again.

Antonio Andrade Biography 2014
"Singing and playing, presenting songs and connecting with an audience, is more fun than anything else that I can think of or imagine. It seems the audience always has fun, and I know that I do!"
Antonio's most recent CD of original tunes, "Life Shakes", was released in February, 2014. The tight and hot studio band included Mark Stuart (guitars and vocals), Freebo (fretless bass), Ed Lesser (drums), and Stacey Earle (vocals). This release was timed to coincide with the conclusion of a daytime career in social service work that began in 1976, almost as long as he's been singinng and playing guitar and harmonica.
"see if you recognize this one", a CD of Antonio's interpretations of covers, was released in 2010. That record included the Talking Heads tune "This Must Be The Place". In 2012, Antonio's version of that song was included in the film of the same title that starred Sean Penn and Frances McDormond.
"Nobody brings more passion to the stage than Antonio" says veteran singer/songwriter/industry professional James Lee Stanley.
Antonio sings and plays for the joy of it. His shows are more than concerts. They are entertainment.
Singing Dylan songs at parties and a first band in high school ("yeah, we had an electric accordian; the Flying Wedge.") led to dabbling in coffeehouses during his years at Penn State. ("I've been chasing and following my passion for music along with a daytime career for about 40 years now.") Accompanying himself on guitar and harmonica and singing cover songs, mostly in bars, with an occasional festival and/or spot as an opener (including being in line-ups with Grammy winners), kept Antonio busy until 1992. He played with Episode, a dance rock/cover band based out of Allentown, PA, from 1992 - 2003.
Resuming solo acoustic work in 1996, along with the band dates, turned into songwriting, and in 2000 the CD of 10 original songs "straydog" was released. Antonio's 2nd CD, "What Do You Want From Me", released in 2007, delivered more original songs marked by the rock/folk/pop influences that removed him from the sandlot and stood him on a stage.
"You know how kids hold thoughts about what they want to be? I wanted to be a baseball player, but when I saw The Beatles on the The Ed Sullivan Show, something happened!"
