Biography

For Antony Bitar, performing is not enough. After studying opera performance in college, he found,
post-graduation, that the songwriting process is what gives him the most fulfillment. So he walked away
from his opera training, and now, with his self-titled debut album, Bitar’s writing comes to life.

In stark contrast to his days of opera performance, Bitar’s sound is a combination of the laid-back, cool
voice of Jason Mraz and the upbeat piano-driven melodies of Sara Bareilles. Bitar’s insightful lyrics of
vulnerability and triumph easily hit home with each and every listener.

His first single “Butterflies,” which was receiving radio airplay across the New York City tri-state area
within days of its release, is about that nervous yet exciting feeling of first falling in love. His positive
lyrics accompany a lively melody and feel-good pop sound.

"It’s the tingly feeling in your fingers and your toes.
You’re trying really hard not to let it show.
Her beauty’s overwhelming but you don’t want her to know."

Bitar grew up surrounded by music. His father, a priest and music teacher, and three older sisters were
always singing in the house. Bitar caught on and taught himself piano. But the real turning point came
after his grandfather died and he found a cathartic refuge at his piano. “In a matter of minutes of sitting
in front of the keys, I completed my first song,” he said. It was then that he discovered his gift of
songwriting.

Bitar went on to study opera performance at the John J. Cali School of Music at Montclair State
University, where he performed coveted roles and earned competitive awards, including first place at
the National Association of Teachers Singing competition. Despite his success, he soon realized that
opera was not his calling. “I felt this void of merely singing onstage,” he said. “I never felt more fulfilled
or at home than when I was behind that piano, writing that song for my grandfather.”

So upon graduation, Bitar immediately went back to songwriting. He set out to New York in September
2010 to write and record his self-titled debut album. His ability to convey emotion with his music has
become the driving force of this emerging artist. “From the second my fingers touch the piano, emotions
pour out and translate through the whole song,” said Bitar. “When the lyrics come out, I become those
words and live them out right onstage.”

In addition to his album, Bitar recently wrote the breakout single, “On Display,” for Melissa Gorga, the
newest housewife of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, which will appear in its current season on
Bravo.

Antony Bitar’s self-titled debut album was recorded at The Cutting Room studio in New York City, and
includes Saturday Night Live drummer Shawn Pelton, Thad Debrock on guitar and Eshy Gazit on bass. It
will be released on September 13, 2011.

Fly Alone

Written By: Antony Bitar, Paula Valstein

I don’t know just where I’m going
Don’t know where I’ll end up.
All I know is you’re not with me.
I cant feel your touch.

I’m sitting on this plane
and the fasten seatbelt sign turns on
The wheels are spinning faster and faster.
I’m not ready for takeoff.

I don’t really wanna fly alone
With this empty seat beside me.
I don’t really wanna fly alone
My heart’s breaking. Baby without you I’m not home.

I remember the day I met you
My heart froze in the air.
It’s like the ticking clock stopped moving.
I just wanted to taste your kiss

I miss the days we used to spend together
Until the morning came
I know I made a big mistake

I don’t really wanna fly alone
With this empty seat beside me.
I don’t really wanna fly alone
My heart’s breaking. Baby without you I’m not home.

Butterflies

Written By: Antony Bitar

It’s the feeling that starts in the middle of your chest
Then spreads and spreads and takes over the rest of your body, yea.
It takes over your body yea, yea.
It’s the feeling you get when your eyes first meet
A little glimpse of what it feels like to be complete. It fills your body, yea.
It fills your body yea, yea.

It’s the tingly feeling in your fingers and your toes.
You’re trying really hard not to let it show.
Her beauty’s overwhelming but you don’t want her to know.

Girl you give me butterflies. You’re the sweetest gift to my brown eyes.
With a smile that could turn my world around.
Girl you give me butterflies. Every day with you’s a new surprise.
Girl you keep me on my toes, you know, you give me butterflies.

It’s the reason why sometimes I cant speak
Why I fumble my words and trip over my feet. You make me crazy, yea.
You make me crazy, yea, yea.
It’s the reason why I lose track of time,
Why I fumble my words and forget how to rhyme. You make me crazy, yea.
You make me crazy, yea, yea.

Flying away with you would really be my dream come true.
To bring you to your destiny and really show you all of me.
But when I’m with you I get so nervous.
Like I’m a little boy holding my thermus.
You give me gitters and the heiby giebies over me.

Girl you give me butterflies. You’re the sweetest gift to my brown eyes.
With a smile that could turn my world around.
Girl you give me butterflies. Every day with you’s a new surprise.
Girl you keep me on my toes, you know, you give me butterflies.

Sanctuary

Written By: Antony Bitar, Sam Brown

Sactuary take me home.
Set my body free from my soul
Caus I’ve been trying to believe
Lord I’ve got air but theres no room to breathe

Send me strength send me hope
Because without you theres no where to go
Send me guidance, send me peace
Without that I might as well be

Falling without ground below
Falling not knowing how low I will go
Falling from grace into a place
Far from my Sanctuary

I’ve been troubled, I’ve been lost
I have been hiding but God at what cost?
If theres an answer, then I’ll belive
The road wont be easy so bring it to me.

Falling without ground below
Falling not knowing how low I will go
Falling from grace into a place
Far from my Sanctuary

People say theres no place like home
But what if you’ve spent your whole life alone
Looking for light, fighting for truth, for ground to stand on..

Falling without ground below
Falling not knowing how low I will go
Falling from grace into a place
Far from my Sanctuary

Falling without ground below
Falling not knowing how low I will go
Falling from grace into a place
Far from my Sanctuary
