"Antony Bitar's Self Titled Album Drops 9/13/11"

I remember back when my kids were just discovering pop music and leaving their kiddie music behind. It’s a hard age to find appropriate music since most adult music has overtly sexual themes. So it’s nice to find a singer/songwriter that’s written a sweet and simple song that talks about a crush and the first moments of a relationship in a wholesome and kind way without being sappy. - miscfinds4u.com

Bio

For Antony Bitar, performing is not enough. After studying opera performance in college, he found,
post-graduation, that the songwriting process is what gives him the most fulfillment. So he walked away
from his opera training, and now, with his self-titled debut album, Bitar’s writing comes to life.

In stark contrast to his days of opera performance, Bitar’s sound is a combination of the laid-back, cool
voice of Jason Mraz and the upbeat piano-driven melodies of Sara Bareilles. Bitar’s insightful lyrics of
vulnerability and triumph easily hit home with each and every listener.

His first single “Butterflies,” which was receiving radio airplay across the New York City tri-state area
within days of its release, is about that nervous yet exciting feeling of first falling in love. His positive
lyrics accompany a lively melody and feel-good pop sound.

"It’s the tingly feeling in your fingers and your toes.
You’re trying really hard not to let it show.
Her beauty’s overwhelming but you don’t want her to know."

Bitar grew up surrounded by music. His father, a priest and music teacher, and three older sisters were
always singing in the house. Bitar caught on and taught himself piano. But the real turning point came
after his grandfather died and he found a cathartic refuge at his piano. “In a matter of minutes of sitting
in front of the keys, I completed my first song,” he said. It was then that he discovered his gift of
songwriting.

Bitar went on to study opera performance at the John J. Cali School of Music at Montclair State
University, where he performed coveted roles and earned competitive awards, including first place at
the National Association of Teachers Singing competition. Despite his success, he soon realized that
opera was not his calling. “I felt this void of merely singing onstage,” he said. “I never felt more fulfilled
or at home than when I was behind that piano, writing that song for my grandfather.”

So upon graduation, Bitar immediately went back to songwriting. He set out to New York in September
2010 to write and record his self-titled debut album. His ability to convey emotion with his music has
become the driving force of this emerging artist. “From the second my fingers touch the piano, emotions
pour out and translate through the whole song,” said Bitar. “When the lyrics come out, I become those
words and live them out right onstage.”

In addition to his album, Bitar recently wrote the breakout single, “On Display,” for Melissa Gorga, the
newest housewife of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, which will appear in its current season on
Bravo.

Antony Bitar’s self-titled debut album was recorded at The Cutting Room studio in New York City, and
includes Saturday Night Live drummer Shawn Pelton, Thad Debrock on guitar and Eshy Gazit on bass. It
will be released on September 13, 2011.
