Bio
Aoife Moriarty’s suburban childhood was spent in the competitive company of artists, inventors, scientists and musicians. In this environment she began to write songs at the age of eight. She graduated in 1998 and worked part time while honing in on her guitar playing and songwriting. She attended workshops in Louisville, Kentucky, formally trained on piano and her first gig was in the famous Bluebird Café in Nashville.
Following a knee-jerk career break in 2006, Aoife gathered up all her home demos and brought them to acclaimed producers Chris O’Brien and Graham Murphy of the Production Suite. An Ep was recorded, a band gathered and her debut album “Dolls & Jigsaws” was finally realized.
Aoife has gone through various musical phases but is consistent in her love of well-crafted rock/folk/pop songs that stand the test of time. She cites Steely Dan, Leonard Bernstein, Neil Young and early Madonna as lasting influences. If you would like to hear Suzanne Vega singing Blossom Dearie’s repertoire backed by Blondie’s band, then this music is for you.
