Band Presentation

Apadooraï is a unique drum & didgeridoo instrumental quatuor featuring a didgeridoo duo, grooving with various guitars and drum set / percussions that carry crowds in an exhilarating dance / trance experience. Our group is essentially acoustic, with a touch of electro, and our sound is influenced by afro-groove, canadian folk, celtic, moroccan, reggae-dub, but also even techno, drum & basse, etc. Basically, no one stays indifferent to our sound and our group is growing fast in Québec and Canada.

Our latest album, officially launched in December 2009, is distributed by SRI Records (Independant Canada wide label) across Canada and numerically by Select Digital (iTunes and other e-outlets). Our agent is Musique Multi-Montréal (www.musiquemultimontreal.com), but for the Canadian market Rodolphe Gagnon acts as Manager / Representative of the band to help overcome language barreers.

Band Biography

The first drum & didgeridoo echoes of Apadooraï all started in the Montreal underground scene in 2005, with an original trio then named Apaduraï – 2 didgeridoos and drum. With this very
simple formula, they created a first repertoire from live jam sessions and venues, from 2005 to 2008.

In 2008, facing widespread demand, Apaduraï launched a 6 track demo and sold all 300 copies in the 24 concerts they offered in 2008. Noting the interest generated by the first trio attempt, the didgeridoo duo – the core of the band – decided to build a stronger repertoire, hiring new musicians to the band such as guitarist Dany Nicolas (Sagapool) and drummer Sylvain Plante (Papagroove / Wesli Band). Apadooraï was born in September 2008, renaming itself with two o’s in honour of its signature instrument. These changes brought about a new flavour to the core drum & didgeridoo sound in which the raw didgeridoo grooves blend with a solid rhythmic section and new melodic lines that resonate with people of all ages and backgrounds.

Since 2009, Apadooraï has offered over 65 shows all around the province of Quebec and in Toronto (Global Groove, July 2010) in many different contexts, from summer festivals to mainstream presenter networks with sitting audiences, from corporate events to teenage audiences. With their unique sound and energy, Apadooraï keeps on seducing new crowds every day!
