"Apani B. Fly – ‘Hey’ (Prod. J Dilla) | New Music"

One of Queens, New York’s best-kept secrets Apani B. Fly comes out of hiding with this beauty cradled in her arms. A track that will likely never be properly released thanks to label politics, she says, “Hey”, digs deeper into the legendary J Dilla‘s beat stash, plucks out a clunking banger and sees Ms. B. Fly get her Jean Grae on for a lyrical assassination. I’d say this makes up for the four year hiatus.
Although a simple stream is the height of this track’s existence, it shouldn’t stop you from enjoying it below. - Soulcuture Mag UK

"The Singles file Volume 014"

Artist: Apani
Title: Spot Me b/w A Million Eyes
Label: Bronx Science Records

I'm listening to Apani (B. Fly Emcee)'s new "Spot Me b/w A Million Eyes" twelve inch and I am once +AGAIN+ amazed by Celph the Rubix Quban's illymost beats. On the A-Side he gives Apani an incredible audio assault with slamming pianos, a delicious repeating cuatro of horns, guitars on the chorus, and a slamming drum track/bassline throughout. On the flipside I'm getting positively cold chills - a SHIVER down my back. It's like a cross between "Goldfinger" and "Diary of a Madman" - and if that ill beat combination doesn't make your heart ache, peep these Apani lyrics:

"I'd be surprised if shit changed
I'd run fast and far if I could escape this cage
Can't contain my rage, guess that's why they keep me locked
Keep me livin hand to mouth hustlin for what I got
If I drop a bomb, here come the vultures
All I really got that's mine, is my pride and culture
What you want that TOO?"

Apani is a highly jockable female rapper to begin with - she's straight skills - but Celph Titled combines her brilliant raps with some brilliant beats. - Steve 'Flash' Juon for rapreviews.com

"Apani B. Fly – Hey [Prod. By J Dilla]"

Queens native Apani B. Fly releases this unreleased cut with J Dilla on the boards via her Twitter. She snapped. - You Heard That New Music Blog

"APANI B. FLY – “HEY” P. J DILLA"

Here’s a never-before-heard gem with a capital G that will apparently never be properly released. Apani B. Fly just hopped on her Twitter to share “Hey”, a deep-in-the-vaults cut produced by the late J Dilla. She said that politics will likely prevent this track from landing on an album or anything of that nature, but hey, at least we can stream it right? Peep it below. It goes. - Potholes In My Blog

"Apani B. Fly – Hey (prod. J Dilla)"

Apani B. Fly dropped an unreleased track via her twitter earlier today, featuring production by J Dilla. I had no idea what to expect when I pressed play, but as soon as the familiar gutter riff commenced I knew this was a lost treasure indeed. I’ve only ever known this badass hi-hat frenzy as “Errigh Erruh” floating on YouTube, so it’s great to hear it finally graced with some grade-A lyricism. - The Word Is Bond

Q: What was the biggest moment of the year for you personally?
A: When I got my first training bra.

Q: What was the biggest moment of the year for you in general?
A: Every time I cashed a check. It was great.

Q: Best album(s) of the year?
A: Whatever TI was on.

Q: Best new rap artist(s) of the year?
A: Next question please...

Q: Best movie(s) of the year?
A: Because I don't go to the movies much, 'Talladega Nights' wins by default.

Q: What do you wish for hip-hop in 2007?
A: My album.

Q: What do you wish for the world in 2007?
A: George Bush and his a-alikes swallowed by a dimensional worm hole that will carry them to a distant land where they will be forced to do manual labor while they listen to Ru-Paul songs with no possible chance of return.

Q: What releases/projects can we expect from you (and yours) in the 2007?
A: I don't have release dates so I can't snitch. More singles, a new song on the Pachecos compilation. Stay tuned for release dates on full length project(s).

"Apani Collaborates with MF Doom on the Viktor Vaugn LP"

Viktor Vaughn
“Let Me Watch [ft. Apani B. Fly Emcee]”
[2003]

Rating: 4 Stars
Nikki (Apani B.) has a girlhood crush on Viktor Vaughn; Vik just wants to get laid. We hear both sides of this mismatched courtship and as much as MF Doom-as-Viktor Vaughn's caddish advances get the laughs, my ears are on Nikki: young enough to have a curfew, she's got no business running around with Vik or sneaking romantic phone calls when her mom's not around (a series of blue ball nuisances for Vaughn, who's only waiting to "hit it"). She still likes the long talks and hand-holding, yet there's plenty of matter-of-fact sexiness in these diary entries from a girl who's ready to "take the next step."

Before it can happen, though, Vik goofs up and drives Nikki off, giving her the opportunity to smack him with a classic put-down: "I'd rather masturbate than fuck with Vik Vaughn." Instead of betraying our trust and becoming the villain, Vaughn gives us a wink and a grin, revealing himself as a big bad wolf to Apani B's fairy tale innocent: scary enough to help her grow up, but clumsy enough to let her go with a lesson in self-reliance.

Expected to travel to Japan at the release of Story 2 Tell, Apani will perform at select dates in Japan and several European countries. Prior to Apani’s departure, she will headline Kindred’s premiere date of TOFUGANJA2GO!, a live listening session featuring one straight set of various notable performers and turntablists, on December 16th at RARE on West 14th Street.
