Biography

Apollo Zero is singer-songwriters Nick Markow and Cade Cashen, renowned drummer Lance McAskill, and bassist James Patton, with engineer Buck Masters.

Shortly after completing an acoustic (as yet unreleased) EP at legendary Muscle Shoals Sound Studios under the guidance of Noel Webster, Markow and Cashen joined up with longtime friend James Patton, and brought in Lance McAskill, whom they met after a performance in New Orleans.

Renamed Apollo Zero (in reference to the Greek God of Music, and to new beginnings) the band has been working on a new LP for the past 8 months, planned for release in January of 2011. Although the initial demos were recorded digitally, the band adamantly believes that digital technology has decayed sound quality. With that in mind, the album is being recorded entirely on 2-inch tape, setup and calibrated just as it would have been in 1960s England. Though the 2011 release will include digital copies for download, the band (true to form) will also be releasing the record on vinyl.

Lyrically sophisticated and musically inventive, Apollo Zero draws inspiration from many musical sources and styles. Though always holding themselves to a high standard of lyrical composition, the band believes that most important part of songwriting is the music itself. Music can expresses what words cannot, and Apollo Zero's music explores the power of sound through an expert use of harmony, rhythm, and soulful vocals.

Misdirection

Written By: Cade Cashen & Nick Markow

Two steps left and three steps right
No matter which way I'm a step behind
Backwards, forwards, I don't come any closer
I've tried over and over with nothing to show for
I've been chasing your love
And it's time I grow up 'cause it's never enough
And I'm tired of strugglin'
Cut and dry listen close to this rhyme
I don't have time to rewind
So this is goodbye

Misdirection
So many days I've wasted away with you
Misdirection
I'm coming alive yes I'm coming alive without you

3:35 it's time I got writing
'Cause I got so much riding
On these words I've been finding but
Back to business through the second verse with a quickness
I don't have time for your bitchin'
So take a step back and listen

Misdirection
So many days I've wasted away with you
Misdirection
I'm coming alive yes I'm coming alive without you

Ruins

Written By: Cade Cashen & Nick Markow

Haunting echoes of children's feet
Through the rhythm of life they beat
Like warriors' swords and inventors' minds
Ashes to ashen all things in time

Gilded halls hold marble busts
Soldier's bones return to dust
Empires rise, kingdoms crumble
From gods to kings to shambles

In the ruins of life
Each day, every moment, we all fall in line
All too blind to realize
Everything comes to an end with time

What is it that I believe?
Do I have a destiny?
Do I shape the coming days?
Will I live this life in vain?

In the ruins of life
Each day, every moment, we all fall in line
All too blind to realize
Everything comes to an end with time

How could these walls of perfect stone
Erode away like a dragon's bones
Upon the heights God moulds the dawn
All from one, but what from all?

In the ruins of life
Each day, every moment, we all fall in line
All too blind to realize
Everything comes to an end with time

Nightfall

Written By: Cade Cashen & Nick Markow

When the darkest nights arrive
And I've got no place to hide
I grow feeble in my mind
When the storm is on my shore
And my sails are slashed and torn
I can't live like this no more

It's getting harder and harder to breathe
I'll be down on my knees
When the night falls down on me

I need a fire to warm my bones
Now that my heart has grown cold
I forgot what it's like to be bold
With my armor stripped away
No more pride no more grace
Walking wounded time to pray

It's getting harder and harder to breathe
I'll be down on my knees
As the night falls down on me
It's getting harder and harder to breathe
I'll be down on my knees
As the night falls down on me

As the night falls down on me
Lord I'll do just what you please
As the night falls down on me
It's getting harder and harder to breathe
As the night falls down on me

I can't walk this road alone
Won't make a house of cards my home
I need a friend to call my own
And I don't know the reasons why,
But I'm lucky I'm still alive
It's not time to say goodbye

As the night falls down on me

Worlds Apart

Written By: Cade Cashen & Nick Markow

Worlds Apart

I wish I never held you
I'd be better off that way
Never should have tasted your lips
Better lovers don't exist
I don't rest well without you next to me
I wish this had all been a dream

We are
We are
We are
Worlds apart

This time it's not me or you
It's just the space between the two
You won't see the forest for the trees
You won't believe you're in love with me
You live inside every face I see
I still smell you underneath my sheets

We are
We are
We are
Worlds apart

I don't ever wanna
I don't ever wanna
I don't ever wanna feel this way
Man, I think I'm gonna
Damn, I know I'm gonna go insane

We are
We are
We are
Worlds apart

Dangerous

Written By: Cade Cashen & Nick Markow

I'm dangerous-- I'm everything you fear
Far too close, become far too dear
It's hard to trust someone to your care
Why the fuss? You seem so damn scared

Hurt me so you don't hurt no more
Push me you've boarded up your doors
Haunt me you will for ever more
Hate me for loving you like no one has before

You call yourself a liar as best as you know
What is it you're praying for when you find yourself alone?
You hold the keys to your fantasies but do you dare to dream?
I'll meet you there or anywhere just put your faith in me

Hurt me so you don't hurt no more
Push me you've boarded up your doors
Haunt me you will for ever more
Hate me for loving you like no one has before
