Bio

Apollo Zero is singer-songwriters Nick Markow and Cade Cashen, renowned drummer Lance McAskill, and bassist James Patton, with engineer Buck Masters.

Shortly after completing an acoustic (as yet unreleased) EP at legendary Muscle Shoals Sound Studios under the guidance of Noel Webster, Markow and Cashen joined up with longtime friend James Patton, and brought in Lance McAskill, whom they met after a performance in New Orleans.

Renamed Apollo Zero (in reference to the Greek God of Music, and to new beginnings) the band has been working on a new LP for the past 8 months, planned for release in January of 2011. Although the initial demos were recorded digitally, the band adamantly believes that digital technology has decayed sound quality. With that in mind, the album is being recorded entirely on 2-inch tape, setup and calibrated just as it would have been in 1960s England. Though the 2011 release will include digital copies for download, the band (true to form) will also be releasing the record on vinyl.

Lyrically sophisticated and musically inventive, Apollo Zero draws inspiration from many musical sources and styles. Though always holding themselves to a high standard of lyrical composition, the band believes that most important part of songwriting is the music itself. Music can expresses what words cannot, and Apollo Zero's music explores the power of sound through an expert use of harmony, rhythm, and soulful vocals.
