Biography

The Apolonia’s musical signature made the reputation of this group, native from Reunion island, stuck to a music style born from a particular cultural mix, with a strong identity. Saying that Bruno Escyle (funder and leader of the group) is passionate by the “Séga” is obviously an euphemism. He is devoted to this music style, body and soul: “Sega is the ultimate music of interbreeding for me, considering the cultural diversity of my island. It got my heart beating for a long time because it follow the path of universality, drawn way before by others music styles through which other cultures expressed themselves.” More than a music style, it’s the lifestyle of an entire island that the group defends for 20 years now. Pushed by his passion and his determination, the leader of the group wants to go even farther and wishes to share this wealth with the rest of the world. By showing proudly the « multi-ethnicité » of his native island, a plea for peace and tolerance, Bruno Escyle proposes a dive in the culture of Reunion island, and get involved in the implanting of its values.
Through an eccentric and acoustic orchestra, Bruno sings the love, the nostalgia and committed texts on divine but terribly rhythmical melodies. Nevertheless, he remains continual search of instruments, rythms and bridges to go meet people with different habits and cultures. In its artistic approach, Apoloniia proves that it’s a real ambassador of the popular music of Reunion island.
