Bio

The band, comprised of Tierney Kathleen (vocals/guitar), Nicholas Dunbar (vocals/mandolin), Moe Hopkins (vocals/ violin) and Gary McCrumb (vocals/upright bass), made their debut in the summer of 2007. It was a sunny evening in June, on Apple Valley Road, and the music could be heard on the banks of the Saint Vrain River. The band, later named “Apple Valley” for their original performance just outside of Lyons, Colorado, live in the Nederland/Lyons areas and are making their impact on the Colorado bluegrass world. Apple Valley’s unique sound is due to their blend of acoustic, bluegrass, and folk music with sincerely crafted and arranged original and traditional songs. Not to mention, Tierney’s beautiful and soothing voice is a sound that comes straight off the front porch, out onto the plains and into the hearts of listeners everywhere. The band is influenced by many, both great and small, including: Bill Monroe, John Prine, Jerry Garcia, David Grisman, Tim O’Brien, Bob Dylan, and Gillian Welch to name a few. Apple Valley’s music can be heard all along the Front Range of Colorado as their fan base is ever-growing. Recently, Apple Valley opened for Greensky Bluegrass at the Oriental Theater in Denver. The band currently has a self-recorded and released LP titled, “Blackbox Sessions”, which can be purchased at their shows. They also have a developing plan for an album release in the near future. While their music continues to grace the fields, barns, rivers and buildings, Apple Valley is still singing on their porches, and appreciating the love and support of all the venues, friends and fans, and drawing inspiration from the wide surrounding musical community.
