Biography

Mississippi meets Memphis in this friendly self-proclaimed “Good-Times” girl! Growing up in northeast Mississippi and transplanted to the heart of Memphis, one thing’s for sure, she is 100% country! Senior Director of A&R for Universal Music Group, Joe Fisher praises April’s One Long Friday Night, calling it “REALLY REALLY good!” Memphis’s most sought after Professional Vocalist/Vocal Coach and professional songwriter Susan Marshall declares, “Great tone, great pitch, great songs!” April is known for balancing a free-spirited quirk with heart-tugging life themes. Her refreshingly unique style appeals to the senses, thrusting the listener onto a musical journey – wholesome enough for even the most conservative – but engaging enough to intrigue all who have the privilege of coming along for the ride!

Every bit as sweet as she sounds, most compare her vocals to a sugary blend of Miranda Lambert's drawl and a touch of Alison Krauss's texture. Creating a signature sound Sheree Spoltore, Executive Membership Director for Nashville Songwriters Association International, simply calls, “Beautiful.” Stylistically, April feels right at home somewhere between Miranda's Lambert's Revolution album and Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill. A rarity, April knows exactly who she is as an artist and a writer, and it’s obvious in her consistently one-of-a-kind lyrics and performances.

Universally relevant messages and delightful performances make her a crowd pleaser everywhere she graces – always invited back! Some formerly Christian-only music listeners are crediting April for turning them onto her gracious yet clever country music. One reason, as Mike Doyle VP of Major Bob Music in Nashville, forthrightly states, “The girl can write!” Brad Kernnard, General Manager of Song Garden Music Publishing, compliments April’s writing style and gift for imagery to current pro-writing sensation Lori McKenna.
Things are moving quickly for April, who is currently releasing her first 7 song country EP entitled His Love's Like A Small Town. The first 5 tracks were recorded with Producer and Hit Songwriter Danny Wells (George Strait – Check Yes or No; Rascal Flats – These Days, While You Loved Me and Everyday Love; Craig Morgan – Little Bit of Life). By fan request, two additional tracks, "Little Pink Ribbon" and "Your Mama Prays" have been included in the collection. "Little Pink Ribbon", a song written from stories submitted by breast cancer victims and their families, received play from almost every state in the nation, as well as 7 other countries in only two short weeks after it's release. The album concludes with the tender Scripture-filled lullaby written for her daughter, Georgia-Claire, aptly called "Your Mama Prays."

In light of the recent natural disasters striking the Mid-South she calls home, April has decided to release the EP giving a portion to the American Red Cross aiding the Disaster Relief efforts. Your support is received with tremendous gratitude!

He Makes Pretty Babies

Written By: April Fraiser

DANG TOILET SEAT UP AGAIN
THANKS TO HIM I ALMOST FELL IN
IF HE WOULD’VE SAW HE’D PROBABLY LAUGHED
THAT’D JUST MAKE ME MADDER TOO
I DON’T LIKE SOME THINGS HE THINKS ARE CUTE
LIKE TRIPPIN’ ON BOYFRIENDS FROM MY PAST

PRECHORUS
I’M NOT ONE WHO LIKES TO COMPLAIN
SURELY I CAN FIND SOMETHING GOOD TO SAY

CHORUS
HE MAY JUST MOW THE GRASS ONCE A YEAR
ALWAYS SHRINK MY UNDERWEAR (DECORATE WITH WHITETAIL DEER)
HE AIN’T BEEN THAT SWEET TO ME LATELY
HE SHUTS UP LIKE A CLAM WHEN I TRY TO FIGHT
HE’LL EVEN TELL YOU HE’S ALWAYS RIGHT
BUT THE BOY MAKES PRETTY BABIES

HE’S ALWAYS STARING AT THE TV SET
WATCHING HISTORY OR ESPN
AFTER WORK HE’S TEEING OFF
EXCEPT FOR IN THE WINTER TIME
THERE’S SOME DEER STAND HE’S TRYING TO CLIMB AND
HE LIES ABOUT IT WHEN HE’S LOST

PRECHORUS
HE’S NOT ALL BAD DON’T TAKE IT THAT WAY
I GUESS WHAT I’M REALLY TRYING TO SAY

REPEAT CHORUS

REPEAT CHORUS

CLASSES WERE A BUMMER WAITIN’ ON SUMMER-
TIME TO FINALLY COME
LIVING FOR THE WEEKEND LATE NIGHTS SLEEP IN
TO CUT LOOSE HAVING FUN
I REMEMBER TO THIS DAY
SITTING IN THE MIDDLE STAYING OFF THAT MAIN HIGHWAY

CHORUS
AND WE PLAYED EARL THOMAS CONLEY AND GEORGE STRAIT FROM THE BOX
RIDIN’ IN THAT MUDDY RED STEP SIDE
WITH THE WINDOWS ROLLED DOWN US SINGIN’ LOUD
THAT SUMMER WAS LIKE ONE LONG FRIDAY NIGHT

TRYING HARD TO BE GOOD HEADIN’ FOR SOFT MUD
AND OUR SPECIAL PLACE
BLACK NIGHTS BLACK TOP PONYTAIL TANK TOP
THOSE WERE THE DAYS
STRAWBERRY GLOSS ON MY LIPS
YOU THERE GRINNIN’ SAID YOU LOVED THE TASTE OF IT

REPEAT CHORUS

BRIDGE
YOU COULDN’T TELL ME BACK THEN
OUR LOVE OR SUMMER’D EVER END
BUT IT DID AND MY MIND STILL PLAYS IT ALL AGAIN
AGAIN AND AGAIN

REPEAT CHORUS

THAT SUMMER WAS LIKE THE BEST FRIDAY NIGHT

I Have A Child

Written By: April Fraiser/Danny Wells

I Have A Child ©2010 by April Fraiser/Danny Wells

SHE HAD A HEART-BROKE MAMA AND DADDY
SAID THEY DIDN’T RAISE HER LIKE THAT
BUT THAT BABY BOY IN HER ARMS
IS WORTH ANY HURT THEY EVER HAD

AT NIGHT THERE’S TINY FINGERS
WRAPPED AROUND HER HAND
BY DAY SHE’S SITS IN BACK OF CLASS
JUST LIKE ANY OTHER KID

PRECHORUS
SHE KNOWS HE SEES HER GRINNING WHEN HE ASKS FOR THAT FIRST DATE
SHE SAYS PART OF ME WOULD LOVE TO BUT I THINK WE’D BETTER WAIT (SEE)

CHORUS 1
I HAVE A CHILD YOU MAY NOT KNOW IT
TO GET TO ME YOU’LL HAVE TO GO THROUGH HIM
I’D LIKE TO GET TO KNOW YOU
WE COULD SIT AND TALK A WHILE
I HAVE A CHILD

THAT NERVOUS CONVERSATION
TURNED INTO DOZENS MORE
THEY BLINKED THEIR EYES IN TWO YEARS
HE WAS A HUSBAND GONE TO WAR

PRECHORUS
HE SAID IT’S NOT THAT I’M POLITICAL IT NEVER MEANT THAT MUCH TO ME
BUT THE WAY THIS WORLD’S TURNING I GUESS YOU’VE GOT TO FIGHT FOR PEACE (SEE)

CHORUS 2
I HAVE A CHILD HE MAKES IT WORTH IT
I’D LAY DOWN THIS LIFE PROTECTING HIS
IF I COULD MAKE THIS OLD WORLD BETTER I’D BE CRAZY NOT TO TRY (‘CAUSE)
I HAVE A CHILD

BRIDGE
IT WAS IN THAT SANDY DESERT HIS HEART ACHED FOR FAMILY
WITH NO ONE THERE TO TURN TO A SOLDIER HIT HIS KNEES
SAID LORD SHOW ME WHAT TO BELIEVE (HE HEARD)

REPEAT CHORUS 1
YOU MAY NOT KNOW IT
TO GET TO ME YOU’LL HAVE TO GO THROUGH HIM
I’D LIKE TO GET TO KNOW YOU

DIRTY CAP AND COWBOY BOOTS
GOLDEN TAN AND EYES SO BLUE
WALKING RIGHT OUT OF MY DREAMS
IN A TANK TOP AND OLD BLUE JEANS

PRECHORUS
I KEEPING COOL WHILE HE ASKED ME OUT
LET HIM TEACH ME WHAT LOVE’S ABOUT

CHORUS
I REMEMBER A FULL MOON AND HIS GUITAR
BACK ROADS UNDERNEATH THE STARS
HOW IT FELT WHEN HE’D PULL ME CLOSE
THE WAY HE’D BEG UNTIL WE’D ALMOST
HOLDING ON TO GOOD TIMES WHILE THEY LAST
BUT THEY WENT BY TOO FAST

A MUDDY LAKE STILL TAKES ME BACK
TO HIS SMILE HIS SMELL HIS LAUGH
HIS DADDY’S BOAT AND HOW IT FLEW
TO THAT COVE WHERE IT’S JUST US TWO THEN

PRECHORUS
SCARED TO SWING FROM A ROPE IN A TREE
BUT WORTH IT ALL WHEN HE’D CATCH ME

REPEAT CHORUS

BRIDGE
I CAN’T REMEMBER THAT BOY’S BIRTHDAY ANYMORE
BUT I’M SURE HE’S WISER JUST LIKE ME
I COULD HEAR GUITAR TOWN OR THE FIREMAN ON THE RADIO
AND I COULD STILL BE SEVENTEEN
WONDER IF HE’S HEARD’EM LATELY

REPEAT CHORUS

THAT SCHOOL BUS’LL BE THERE IN A MINUTE
HER HEART BREAKS FOR THE LITTLE GIRL WHO’S IN IT
IT’S BREAKING FOR THE MAN WHO’S HOME BY SIX
‘CAUSE HOW DO YOU TELL YOUR BABY AND BEST FRIEND

THAT LITTLE THING MOMMY PAID NO ATTENTION TO
WAS REALLY SOMETHING NOW IT’S STAGE TWO
SHE FEELS RESPONSIBLE AND ROBBED
SHE’D LIKE TO PRAY BUT WONDERS WHERE’S GOD (SHE SAYS)

CHORUS
HOW DARE IT COME FOR ALL MY DREAMS
CRUSHING THOSE WHO MEAN EVERYTHING
I CAN’T DIE BUT WHAT IF I CAN’T KEEP LIVING
HOW IRONIC IT COMES IN A LITTLE PINK RIBBON

SHE SAID IT HURT THE MOST WHEN I LOST MY HAIR
IT HURT SO MUCH MORE KNOWING HE HAD TO BE THERE
THEY CRIED WHEN THE REALIZATION CAME
SHE COULD’VE PASSED DOWN TO HER ANGEL THIS VERY SAME THING (SHE SAYS)

CHORUS
I’VE LOST MORE STRENGTH THAN I KNEW I HAD
BELIEVING FOR BRIGHTER DAYS AHEAD
I GET SO TIRED BUT I’LL FIGHT LIKE THE BEGINNING
WHILE TEARDROPS FALL ON A LITTLE PINK RIBBON

BRIDGE
IT’S BEEN TWO YEARS SHE’S LIVING CANCER FREE
SHE KEEPS A RIBBON CLOSE BY SHE SAYS IT’S REMINDING ME

CHORUS
THE SAME GOOD LORD WHO HEALED ME
GAVE ME GIFTS OF SWEETER THINGS
LIKE LIVING AND LOVING AND THANKSGIVING
HE SENT THEM TO ME IN A LITTLE PINK RIBBON

IT CHANGES EVERYTHING A LITTLE PINK RIBBON

I’VE GOT MY BLUE EYED BABY GIRL ON MY KNEE
SITTIN’ ON OUR STEPS LOOKING AT A BUSY STREET
THIS AIN’T THE VIEW I HAD GROWIN’ UP
ON THAT COUNTY ROAD BUT NOW I KNOW
MY MAN MAKES IT ENOUGH

CHORUS 1
HIS LOVE’S LIKE A SMALL TOWN
FRIDAY NIGHT OUT RIDIN’ ‘ROUND
MY MOMA’S HOME COOKED MEAL
THAT’S HOW HE MAKES ME FEEL
HIS LOVE’S LIKE A SMALL TOWN
AMAZING GRACE HOW SWEET THE SOUND
NO MATTER WHERE WE GO
I’LL ALWAYS BE AT HOME
HIS LOVE’S LIKE A SMALL TOWN

WE SAID GOODBYE TO MISSISSIPPI CHASING DREAMS
‘CAUSE WHEN YOU REALLY WANT’EM YOU’LL LEAVE MOST ANYTHING
NOW IT’S HONKING HORNS AND BIG BRIGHT LIGHTS
BUT WE’LL BE OKAY AND I CAN SAY
I THANK GOD EVERY NIGHT

REPEAT CHORUS

BRIDGE
WHO WE ARE AIN’T JUST ON A MAP
AND THIS LOVE IS SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT
WHEN IT’S GOOD YOU HAVE

REPEAT CHORUS
