"Fort Worth Weekly Music Awards 2008"

A voice is great, but without excellent tunes, it might as well be auto-tuned and airbrushed. Fortunately, this year's nominees have the songcraft to back up their pipes, running the gamut from thought-provoking acoustic daydreams to electro-industrial vamps. April Geesbreght manages to combine the youthful earnestness of warm balladry with the sweat of arena rocking. How many times have you seen an Indigo Girl (but much sexier) on her knees, bashing the strings of her acoustic ax with the gleeful fury of Pete Townshend? Never? That's because you haven't seen April.
- Fort Worth Weekly

"Quiet Grrl?"

A twenty-something with a massive voice and introspective pen, April can limn the human experience as empathetically as any of her male Fort Worth counterparts. The woman herself is equally real. Her look is girl-next-mansion as interpreted by Tinkerbell. Her voice, a sultry instrument capable of slipping from plaintive confession to breathless longing, from ersatz lounge to party cheer, from sentimental whisper to liberating exhortation. The artist isn't about fashion or being hip. She's about being herself, even if that means assuming the role of a strong female singer-songwriter whose cosmopolitan pop appeal and aw-shucks pleasantness are undeniable. - Fort Worth Weekly

"april geesbreght - top 5 music finalist"

April Geesbreght (pronounced JEZ-bray) was born June 25, 1981 in Fort Worth, Texas. Her father, John, an emergency room doctor and successful entrepreneur and her mother, Priscilla, a full-time mom, taught April the importance of making her own paths and not being a bystander in life.

Besides school, music was a priority in April’s life, with church camps, choir, talent shows, and piano lessons. At the age of 14, April wrote her first “complete” song and shared it with her youth group. From then on, April filled journal after journal with original compositions. Borrowing her brother’s guitar she taught herself to play and was determined to record some of the songs she’d written. At 17, April recorded a four-song demo at a studio in Denton, TX with a musical friend/mentor.

After graduating from high school, April went back into the studio, this time at a friend’s studio, in Weatherford, TX, and recorded 13 songs making her first full-length, self-titled album. At Wheaton College, April looked for acoustic shows around town and on campus to share her trade, selling out of her 1,000 copies. She transferred to Baylor University after two years at Wheaton College and after putting together a band, played nearly every music-related Baylor event. April won second place in Baylor Icon, Baylor’s all-campus spoof on American Idol. She opened for a band giving her the opportunity to perform in front of 35,000 people. April graduated from Baylor University in 2003 with a Bachelor’s degree in Speech Communications. She moved to Dallas and began recording her sophomore album in Oklahoma City, “In Other Words,” with West 2nd Recording.

With the new album under her belt, April pulled together a new set of band members and began performing in the Dallas/Fort Worth area selling CD’s and gaining quite the following. In 2005 April was nominated and won Female Vocalist of the year through the Fort Worth Weekly magazine annual music awards. Later that year, April married.

In May of 2007 April began the process of pre-production and recording for her next album “Big Fire” which released June 2008, recorded at Spaceway Studios in Dallas, TX. In March of 2008 April was nominated Best Female Vocalist of the Year, Best Songwriter of the Year, Best Song of the Year (titled: My Mistake), and Best Album of the Year (Big Fire) in Fort Worth.

With a strong set of morals, passion, enthusiasm, and an irresistible stage presence, April pursues her goals: for her folk-pop music to reach movie soundtracks and TV shows, to song write for established national artists, tour, and record with prominent producers in the industry. - www.racetobeusa.com
