Bio
Pretty Waves is April Koester, voice and guitar, and Robert Boston on drums. Their tastes range from Joni Mitchell, Sonic Youth and Bjork to John Coltrane and Autechre. They enjoy mixing noise and melodies as April sings her own version of the blues moving from the gritty to angelic flight.
April and Robert first began playing together in 2001. April began singing as a child and remembers her father singing Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen to her since she was 4. She and her best friend began putting on music concerts in the front yard to anyone who came by. Years later this is still one of her favorite things to do.
Robert grew up a classical pianist who always loved rock-n-roll. After playing jazz professionally he now enjoys experimental music and improvisation of all kinds.
