"April Nevels Makes Solo Debut With "Krazy Praize" on 7-Places Record Label"

TURNERSVILLE, NJ – January 29, 2010 - April Nevels of the sensational contemporary gospel group, the Nevels Sisters, has released the first single from her solo debut album “Krazy Praize.” The high energy, radio-friendly song is the title track from her forthcoming CD and is already going for adds. The “Krazy Praize” full project is set for release Spring 2010 on 7-Places record label.

Produced by Robert Sayles, world-class musician, songwriter and drummer for platinum-selling soul singer Lyfe Jennings, “Krazy Praize” is an unconventional, out-of-the-box call to praise and Nevels delivers it with rousing conviction. “In the last five years I’ve gone through some really tough, dark times that I never thought I would ever experience,” says April who persevered through divorce, depression and suicidal moments to get to “Krazy Praize.”

A natural humanitarian, Nevels is one of many artists included in Kirk Franklin’s gospel all-star recording of “Are You Listening” an inspiring song to aid relief efforts for Haiti in the wake of the tragic earthquake.

A Youngstown, Ohio native, Nevels is the youngest of five siblings—three sisters and one brother—and has been singing since she was five but being the baby of the family was the last to join her sisters in the group. She would eventually become a main leader in the group singing lead vocals on “Clap Your Hands” the 2009 Top 30 Billboard single from the album “Beautiful”.

“Krazy Praize” single is available on iTunes and Amazon.

"Word Has It: One of Nevels Sisters Strikes Out Solo"

Word has it that April Nevels, one-fourth of the increasingly popular gospel group, the Nevels Sisters, is preparing for the release of her first solo project, Krazy Praise, this Spring on 7-Places Indie Records.

Her single (the title track) is already going for adds at radio and is available for purchase at iTunes and at Amazon.com. For your listening pleasure, I’ve added it to the PunditPlayer. Click here to check it out, but do so QUICKLY. Since it’s on sale, you’re gonna have to support it if you wanna keep hearing it. Amen?!

I love April Nevels’ voice, but I’m not in love with the single just yet. It’s kinda urban and I think I would’ve liked to hear her do something a little more jazzy and mellow to fit with her great tone. The track is definitely growing on me, though!

And FYI– I spoke with a rep from her team and I can confirm that the Nevels Sisters are NOT breaking up… April will continue to record and perform with the group. And I’m glad about that– they’re one of the most gifted new female groups we’ve seen in quite a while and they were just beginning to get a good momentum going with their singles “Clap Your Hands” and “Company.” Keep going!

"Pick of the Week: March 1, 2010"

April Nevels, a member of the popular Nevels Sisters (“Clap Your Hands”), has embarked on a debut solo album, Krazy Praize, scheduled for release this spring.

The title track and first single is a body-twitching anthem to DIY praise. April unapologetically declares, “Everybody’s got a right to praise, even if you don’t know what to say.” The song’s digital-infused music, thumping bass and rapid fire lyricism, produced by Rob Sayles, will facilitate all manner of “krazy praizes” the listener wants to unleash.

Enthusiasts of artists such as Niyoki, Raishein and Alkendria will especially enjoy “Krazy Praize.” - The Black Gospel Blog / Chicago Gospel Events

Bio

April Nevels is a powerful, gifted singer with one of the premiere signature voices in gospel music today. With a rich, vibrant tone like Oleta Adams and vocal styling similar to Karen Clark-Sheard, April’s soulful voice expresses authentic emotions much like that of Mary J. Blige.

The pain of divorce, depression and suicidal moments and her triumphant survival of it all, is what resonates in April’s life and ultimately in her music. “I didn’t see how I would make it out but God never left me,” says April as she embarks upon her first solo project “Krazy Praize” which is set for a Summer 2010 release on 7-Places record label. April emphatically lets the world know that it’s ok to “holla!” and give radical praise to God.

“Krazy Praize” is the debut single and title track offering the beginning lyrics, “Can’t sit still, can’t hold my praise…” and with April’s poignant delivery, few can sit still after the first note. Her vocal gift is just that magnetic. It was April’s distinctive, polished vocals that were lead on the 2009 Top 30 Billboard single “Clap Your Hands” from the album “Beautiful” which she recorded with her siblings, the Nevels Sisters.

Passionate about human causes as well as her music, April is one of many artists featured with Kirk Franklin on the inspiring song “Are You Listening” which was recorded during the 25th Stellar Awards weekend to benefit the Haitian relief fund for that country’s earthquake victims.

Recent appearances have included "The Dorinda Clark-Cole TV Show", The WORD Network's "Rejoice in the Word with Bishop Greg Davis" and several appearances are scheduled with the UniverSoul Circus Praise Night events.

A Youngstown, Ohio native, April is the youngest of five siblings—three sisters and one brother—and the proud mother of two beautiful daughters. Today, April has put all of the pain behind her and channels her energy into her music, her family and her church, Nevels Temple Church of God in Christ, where her father Elder Emmitt Nevels, Sr. is pastor.

April Nevels is moving full speed ahead but through every thread of her career and life, rest assure that she will ALWAYS “krazy praize.”
