Mother

(available on the Welcome to Frognot CD)

Mother your life before me
Wasn't right you won't deny
As you couldn't change that
Your mother lived through the devil's eyes
Now the touch of your hand
A simple tap upon my back
Brings joy to me and comfort
Thank God for you won't relive the past

Little girl don't you have somewhere to go
Take this madness foresee your chosen soul

You look to her for guidance
With a slap upon your leg
She gave to you no kindness
But somehow you got yours back
With no guilt don't follow other footsteps
Am I the only one to hear your silent cry

Mother this endless lie
Of what a symbol should mean to me
Taken away by insane
Now for you to trust in me
Driven down a long lost path
Broken down by a loveless past
Close my eyes for a thought
Please don't let this be my last

Matthew Said Goodnight

(lyrics: A. Samuels / music: D. Leonard, K. Allen, B. Starustka)

Matthew must have laid his head
On a pillow in his bed
Before he fell asleep that night
His shoes lay quietly on the floor
Hair pulled back like she would adore
Before he fell asleep that night

He wrote alone with trembling hands
"All that's good must come to end"
Before he fell asleep that night
Faced the mirror on the wall
"Nothing's sacred after all"
Before he fell asleep that night

Laid his head to sleep
Dresser in front of the door
All came to pass
When Matthew said goodnight

Scattered pictures at his feet
Prayed his tainted soul to keep
Before he fell asleep that night
St. Christopher in his hand
Wrinkled sheets, turned white to red
Before he fell asleep that night

The Fire Remains

(lyrics: A. Samuels / music: D. Leonard, K. Allen, T. Samuels)

The wax tears down this tall red candlestick
I realize it's the flame that makes her cry
She gazes lifeless as the shadows change her mind
It never stays the same still the fire remains

Heated by her lullaby she quietly says goodnight
Talking to herself will surely keep her sane
She won't move and she won't change a thing
Nothing stays the same, still the fire remains

Chorus:
The fire remains
The fire remains
The fire remains
The fire remains

Solo

The flame dances to its low dim shapeless light
Burning slow her sparks drift into the night
She reaches to the fire numb to its pain
There is tomorrow if the fire remains

Chorus
