Lyrics

DON’T BE DOWN

Written By: AquaVenus

VERSE:
O’ don’t be down
Though you feel your heart’s been thrown in the lost and found.
You may feel so low looking up is looking underground.
There’s still hope around.

SUB-VERSE:
Lift your eyes from the ground up to the skies and tell your sorrow bye.
Don’t look down only worms are in the ground. Love comes from up high.
To thine own self be true and remember your God loves you.

VERSE:
So don’t be blue.
Though you feel every love that you ever had proved itself untrue.
Sit in misery and cry is all you feel you can do.
There’s still hope for you.

SUB-VERSE:
When and where love grows nobody knows it takes us by surprise.
Before you know that sparkle and that glow is right back in your eyes.
Please have some faith in you. Pray and your God will see you through.

BRIDGE
Clouds may pass by, but the darkest cloud is in your mind and it’s you you you that rains. Though it’s dark outside in your heart of heart’s there can be sunshine that will remain.
Love still remains the same.

VERSE:
So don’t be down.
Though you feel your heart’s been thrown and kicked around.
You may feel so low you feel like Pagliachi the clown.
There’s still hope to be found.

BRIDGE
Clouds may pass by, but the darkest cloud is in your mind and it’s you you you that rains. Though it’s dark outside in your heart of heart’s there can be sunshine that will remain.
Love still remains, love will remain, love still remains the same.
So don’t be down.

GATOR IN A MONKEY SUIT

Written By: AquaVenus

VERSE:
Here they come once again, gators marching on parade
And they’re armed with their monkey suits in their charade
They’ll fool you once or maybe twice, but you’re the fool if they fool you thrice
It’s not real, it’s just gators in monkey suits

VERSE:
Now I know some guys who sit around all day and smoke crack
And they lie to one another, saying how they are the mack
Their faces are sullen and their bodies are thin, what kind of game can a crack head win?
It’s not real, it’s just gators in monkey suits

CHORUS
Because being real is the battle field and we’re all in the fight
Trust in the good you know, there’s no room for the darkness
When truth sheds her light

VERSE:
Now some people hate me because of the skin I live in
And they hate all the gays and they say their lives are terrible sins
They’re looking for heaven but God might make them wait until their hearts are emptied of all hate
Stand in line with the gators in the monkey suits

CHORUS
Because being real is the battle field and we’re all in the fight
Trust in the good you know, there’s no room for the darkness
When truth sheds her light

VERSE:
Now for the pessimist there’s the optimist, for polluters there’s microbiologists
There’s lover and haters and do-ers and waiters, givers and takers, destroyers and makers
The world is made of many different things but if you listen you’ll hear the whole earth sing

CHORUS
Just be real, don’t be a gator in a monkey suit
Just be real, don’t be a gator in a monkey suit

This prayer is for those lost ones cold out in the rain
Dear God they come to thee with all their hopes and pleas
Nothing to bring but their sins and their pain

VERSE:
This prayer is for that motherless child
Who cries himself to sleep at night
This prayer is for those souls of good will
Who are wondering should they give up the fight?

CHORUS:
This prayer is for those lost ones cold out in the rain
Dear God they come to thee with all their hopes and pleas
Nothing to bring but their sins and their pain

VERSE:
This prayer is for that teenage mother unwed
My God how she struggles to survive
This prayer is for that child that she bore
With hope that child helps keep her faith alive

BRIDGE:
This prayer is for all those souls that go to war
And the innocent that die
I hope by this prayer that is world will know you care
And that you’re watching us form your kingdom on high

CHORUS:
This prayer is for those lost ones cold out in the rain
Dear God they come to thee with all their hopes and pleas
Nothing to bring but their sins and their pain
So much pain
So much pain
Nothing to bring but their sins and their …

Discography

About half the songs on the self-titled debut disc have a Latin rhythm and feel to them. There's also couple of ballads like this “This Prayer” and “Imagine A World” that might pull a heart string or two.

Oh and did I mention that AquaVenus can rock? Songs like “Gator In A Monkey Suit,” “A Letter To The President,” and “Intimidation” add soul to the grittier side of life and rock the house with social/political street smarts.

Set List

AquaVenus has written over 25 songs and might play any of them at any time. The band is currently recording their second CD with plans to play local Portland clubs in the Spring.
