Aquilla Sadallah’s journey into music began as a young girl in the Baptist church. As a youth, she was made aware of the power of music. Her formative years were spent exploring and expressing her love for music and sound. Aquilla nurtured her love of music throughout her youth by performing in church choirs and talent competitions during her elementary, high school and college years. It was during this time that she and close friend Ann Nesby (Grammy Award-Winning Sounds of Blackness), formed a female vocal trio called the Starlights, and began performing hits by Aretha Franklin, Sly and the Family Stone and other note worthy artists at local weddings, family gatherings and talent shows.
Over her career span, Aquilla studied both instrumentally and vocally with groups such as the Circle of Sound, Ju-Ju Nation Afrikan Arkestra and Samana (a Chicago based female vocal and instrumental sextet known for avant-garde improvisation and eclectic jazz tinged arrangements). Aquilla studied music and it's relationship to history, science and different cultures of the world. Her inspiring display of vocal ability is the result of many years of spiritual development and multi-disciplined study.

Yet, Aquilla's versatility still allowed her to find a place as a member of the Sundance Multi-Performing Arts Company and eventually rise to the call as lead singer of home-grown dance and funk Thrill Jockey artists, The National Trust.

In 2005, Aquilla was the featured vocalist on Jupiter (Honest Jon's) the breakout single by the internationally acclaimed Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, an all-star 9 piece brass band from Chicago. Nominated for Song Of The Year in the UK in 2006, Jupiter is a brilliant collaboration amongst family as Aquilla is also the biological mother of 4 out of the 8 blood brothers that comprise HBE.

Aquilla currently leads her own group, Sadalla, and can be seen performing regularly at venues throughout Chicago, such as Transition East and Yah's Cuisine.
