"Arbitors - Arbitors Review"

Arbitors start this eponymous record with a song that has all the hallmarks of an underground hit. 'Proof' has a cool frantic sound and some good guitar work.

'Dance Some More' is quite different, with more pump in the beat and a vocal that weaves in and out of the mix like an early Cure track. The chorus is definitely a sticky one, ready to embed itself in the mind of the masses.

One of the best things about this record is how it mutates constantly and 'How Do You Know' is a great example of this. This song is more of an indie anthem, bringing out the more melodic side of the band.

'The Test' is a smouldering pop track with sparse instrumentation and a floaty vocal like an obscure track from the Eighties.

My favourite track on the album is 'Influx', just because the verses sound so great. The chorus could probably be improved a bit, but still the song sounds great.

'Trip' is a moody closer and ever good record deserves a moody closer. It has an entirely overcast feel with stormy keys and stormy chord progressions with a disconnected beat.

The songs actually get better as you progress through the recording. There is something rather interesting going on in 'How Do You Know' that is missing from 'Proof', but the fact that they don't explode off the starting line with their best track actually means you develop more of a love for the music as you listen, rather than just feeling disappointed.

The sound is cool, but the band is creative too. Well worth a listen.
