Bio

Arbori has been noted by Timber and Steel Blog as “one of Sydney’s most exciting young bands.” They are a nostalgic and ethereal indie-folk collective from Sydney. Lead man Steven Barnard collaborates closely as songwriter and choreographer with a select group of musicians and dancers to create the unique aesthetic that is Arbori.

“wowza. you are LOVELY. the songs. the movement. just lovely. and strange. and lovely. "Polar Bear Swim" is exquisite.”
Erica Sobol, Dancer Choreographer USA

“...hairs stand on end as the audiences’ ears and minds flood with the warm inclusive blanket of sound that is Arbori...their soulful, operatic folk ballads...were capable of seducing the audience both sonically and lyrically.”
CJ Shaw, Shut the Folk Up

You'll hear the reminiscence of Neil Young and Simon & Garfunkel along with the modern tones of Angus & Julia Stone and Death Cab for Cutie. With a grand affection for transportive instrumental sections Arbori are reaching their songs to their full width. This combination of instrumental and lyrical prowess means Arbori speak in a way many indie folk artist seldom do.

“I instantly felt overwhelmed by the honesty in the words and music, their real raw sounds really do touch your heart in such an unexplainable way. An earnest delight.”
Amy Maddison Writer and Director of The Will, Sydney Fringe Festival 2011

With the keen success of their singles 'Biology Of Memories' (2010), In the Places You Fold (2012), their collaboration with 2011 Sydney Fringe Festival theater performance “The Will,” and their follow up EP and dance film project “Polar Bear Swim? due Nov 2012, Arbori are steadily gaining momentum and reputation as one of Sydney?s most engaging and emotive new acts.
