Bio
After digging through old blues records among friends from art school, a gang of ruffians decided to document the songs they had written years prior in a dorm room. They entered a wherehouse studio and the first day met an old eccentric sage like punk rocker known for his vegetarian flan. He laid down some drum tracks and as times unfolded it turned out it was the legendary Don Bolles, drummer of the seminal punk band The Germs. Determined to make melodic pop and then unmake it by breaking the standards and infusing them with an array of influences including the blues (Mississippi John Hurt, Bukka White, Charlie Patton) to 60's dream pop (The Lovin' Spoonful, The Kinks) to modern indie rock (Of Montreal, Built To Spill, Elliot Smith, Guided By Voices, Islands). The songs lyrical content and melodies conjure up lucid moments of memory that are perfect soundtrack for a daydream. The songs stories are about being happy, having fun and not taking everything so seriously. The songs burst with uplifting melodies but the genuine power of the music lies in cutting the crap and having fun. The archives of music are kept in Don’s dilapidated room, which seems to document all the crazy times don’s brain don’t remember. So put on your headphones and smile.
