"Arctic – Live Review – The Globe Theatre, Fortitude Valley - 18 June 2010"

It was far from frosty as Arctic took to the stage.....nah, just kidding. I haven’t stooped to that level yet. What I HAVE been doing is trying to think of a way to say “Arctic warmed up” without sounding like I’m making a bad joke. So I decided to do it this way: ARCTIC. First up. Awesome stuff.

It was a decent sized crowd (for early on a Friday) keen for a taste of some fine local rock -and Arctic got the night off to a great start. Their mix of catchy hooks, big guitars and harmonised vocals really are impossible not to like, and sitting back on one of The Globe’s super-comfy couches with a frosty cold beer it was exactly what I needed.

Despite the soft-rock stylings of most of Arctic’s songs, their live show hints at a darker inspiration lurking under the Summery tunes -with the occasional heavy guitar and rough vocals seeping in.
It's the sound of lying in the afternoon sun and gently daydreaming....of devil horns and mosh-pits! Seriously though, it was a good tight set with the recently added lead-guitar fitting perfectly in the mix.

Arctic: unpretentious, easy to like, and really....heh....cool. Sorry, couldn’t help myself. - ShotOfrock

"Press Release"

KEEPING COOL
If you’re pumped up about the chance to see the incredible MM9 in a couple of week’s time, then we must suggest that you get to the venue nice and early to catch a set from local up-and-comers Arctic. The band have been making some inroads on the local scene for a little while now, they have a firmly cemented line-up, some quality tunes and the willingness to take it all the way, all of which help them to put on some incredible live shows. The band’s debut EP is just about finished and when they hit the stage next weekend they will be playing plenty of material from it. They play Rosie’s on Saturday Apr 17 with MM9 and Electric Horse. - Time Off - April 2010

Bio

As I entered the room, the intoxicating noise that came out of the band room drew me to the stage. Edwin, New World Artists

Since their formation Arctic, a four-piece rock outfit from Brisbane, has gone from strength to strength: aggressively defining their unique and original sound using their own creative integrity.

What sets Arctic apart? Dual guitar melodies with a heavy edge accompanied by catchy vocals that will have you humming all day.

Arctic has completely mastered that heavy progressive sound with the added bonus of a vocal hook that grabs the attention of listeners. Working on the EP with the guys was fun; it was a creative process in which we developed their sound a little further. In the future, I can see that these guys will continue to push their ideas to new heights and become a leading Australian band. That’s right, you heard it here first: watch this space as there are big things to come! Clint Vincent, Producer, Vinjames Music Production

In 2009, Clint Vincent of Vinjames Music Productions (Melodyssey), co-produced, recorded, mixed, and mastered Arctic’s forthcoming debut EP. The EP consists of six carefully considered tracks. I think that we have really found our sound and direction. I am really excited about the launch of the EP as I know there are brisbanites that are hanging out for something really meaty from us. Liam Bryant, founding member of Arctic.

Fans have had a taste of what is to come on the forth-coming EP as 800 copies of the single A Poisoned Desire have been sold at live shows. After the overwhelming response received for these singles, Arctic is anticipating a hugely positive response to their release.

Arctic has shared the stage with leading alternative rock artists including Dead Letter Circus, MM9, Melodyssey and Rook. This has all been achieved without the luxury of an official release or record label. With their unique sound and passion for performance Arctic has mastered a live set that: explodes with energy, is entreating and is well received by fans.
